Should I worry about this? (Filco Majestouch 2 Ninja)

So, I just got this awesome keyboard in the mail. However, I noticed this crack extending from the usb cable towards the top of the deck. It doesn't bother me, but is there a good chance that it will extend?

I guess I should take the lack of replies as me over reacting sad-smiley-002.gif

Anyway, I was just worried about resale value in the distant distant future.

Seeing that Filcos are around $150 I think a crack in the casing of a brand new KB is unacceptable. I would return/exchange if possible, because you never know what could happen in the future; it could get possibly worse on it's own due to varying ambient temperature or you could knock it off your desk making the crack even worse.

Good luck!

Thanks. I am considering sending it back for an exchange, but I have a feeling this is a result of the shipping company.

I am very worried about how long it will take amazon to exchange this. There are only two left in stock.

That being said, I have never heard of anyone else having this issue. I highly doubt it was a manufacturing issue.

C'mon admit it you had that EG_IdrA Rage? J/k I would definitely setup an RMA unless your shipping box came in damaged then i would file with them first and let amazon know what is going on also.

If mine had it I would probably RMA it as well.

I understand the problem. You really do not want to send it back and be without the keyboard for such a long time. On the other hand, it is likely that you will have this keyboard for many years, by exchanging it now you may not have it for a few weeks, but for all those remaining years you dont have to worry about the case cracking or whether you should have sent it to be replaced.

I'd definitely RMA it. You need all the support you can get for that fixed cable on a Filco, and that crack will most likely be more problematic in the future.

Well, since there was only one left in stock, they had me order another one, but they issued me a refund on the original purchase that should hit in 2-3 days. I am pretty worried though, since I don't know where that crack came from. I could receive this new one with the same damage, or even more damage.sadsmiley.gif

Cant say for sure of course, but my feeling is that this is unlikely. If I had to guess I would say it happened during shipping. They wrap their keyboard in a plain box, which they then wrap in another cardboard box, but without any sort of material inbetween to protect it. If they put something heavy on top of it during shipping, or drop it or something, it can be damaged.

The one I ordered was sent overseas, and I was a little surprised how unprotected the keyboard was. I also order stuff for my cats online and it usually comes in carefully wrapped. But any way, it was probably a fluke.
