GPU Install - Don't have any isopropyl alcohol around

Can I use any of these things instead?
- "All Purpose" kitchen cleaner (since it's all purpose it should work for cleaning the GPU and waterblock too)
- Hydrogen Peroxide (it sanitizes too so figured it would work)
- "spit clean" (Like your Mom used to do, if I brush my teeth first and use mouthwash should be okay)
- Water (Just boil some water to sanitize it then dip my Brillo Pad in it)
- Bleach (Ok, if none of the above will work then bleach definitely will. It cleans everything.)

Do not use a brillo pad at all! That would be bad. As far as anything else acetone or nail polish remover. biggrin.gif

I agree, nail polish remover does an excellent job, just clean it up with some water afterwards, you could also use the all purpose cleaner, again, just clean it with some water after.

I had the same problem before...I did some research...

acetone is bad, if you get it on plastics or your pcb it will be bad. Need to be careful using those. Nail polisher is basically acetone + water if I am not mistaken.

I couldnt find any 99% alcohol but I found 95% alcohol called "methylated spirits". I posted some picture in my blog & worklog thread. You can look for this stuff...should be able to find it at pharmacy or those shop selling medicine etc...

Also from my research I found out that thermal paste is organic or something like that, so you cant use water to remove it, it just wont dilute the thermal paste. Its recommnended to use something that is 90% above alcohol. Take note there is 70% alcohol available out there too, but some said its pretty useless like water...just sharing what I read few weeks ago smile.gif

Citric acid would work...Lemon juice. You would rinse it off afterward
