all three of these things contradict each other.

maybe you read it wrong. He/she was listing situations in which a tablet form factor can benefit the user in ways that a laptop can't.

I have a Surface RT, ever since I got it, I haven't touched my laptop. Not in months. A full sized 15inch laptop just isn't as convenient as pulling out a Surface. I've even had a Asus Zenbook, one of the best and most portable ultrabooks on the market....Surface is still way more convenient (though obviously not as complete as a Zenbook) If there's anything I want to do specifically for a computer, I have my desktop. But for media consumption/internet browsing/work, my surface is my top choice. Considering the Surface RT is limited in its functionality and power, the Surface PRO will inherently be better.

Played around with a Surface Pro in my local Best Buy for 20min, it is not bad and I can get use to it if I must use it to replace my work laptop. I think people have issues with it because at its current price point(128 gb @ $1,100+ with touch of type cover) it couldn't make its main competition: Ultrabook convertibles (Yoga13/XPS12/Thinkpad Helix) obsolete.

Are you done trolling yet? Why don't you just come out and say what you mean, that you're the world's #1 apple fan and will berate anything related to MS, Ballmer, and the surface? You seem to be quite literally Apple Marketing's wet dream.

I mean these passive aggressive pot shots are just getting old. Having diverse opinions are not a bad thing, but just thread crapping with illogical arguments (x86 is worthless for enterprise?) is not an interesting or compelling argument.

Next, we'll see meme's of Ballmer being overweight. Yawn.

you're ignoring the fact that office is dependent on keyboard and trackpad/mouse. stylus/touch are not real alternatives for office based programs (ms office suite). and based on design (lack of hinge to hold the display in place) it is super awkward to use when not seated at a desk.

most of the time, at work, you DO have a desk. Taking my surface to and from a meeting (with a desk of course) is extremely easy.
Not to mention, you can plug any mouse/keyboard into the USB port. ANY mouse/keyboard can be used, even Logitech wireless ones that support 6 devices at once. I use a keyboard occasionally with my surface RT if i plan on doing some serious typing. But that's very rare.

I don't know where you guys ever actually sit down on a couch with a laptop to do work. Do you guys sit on couches at work with no desk? If I'm using a laptop outside of work, i'm just browsing the internet/watching a movie, in which case, you'd just fold the keyboard to the back anyways....

Look, i'm not denying that a laptop isn't better a certain things, and a standalone tablet is better at other things, but for the time being, a Surface Pro (in my opinion) is the best alternative compared to having to travel carrying BOTH a laptop and tablet

Imo it doesn't clearly win against its main competition(convertibles), so it is not clearly the "best" alternative to replace both a laptop and a tablet. For someone moving off thick laptop the form factor difference may not be significant when compared to ability to adjust Display angle (instead one fixed angle), use mutliple usb devices at once( mouse+ a usb thumbdrive+ charging a phone), productive work on the lap from a couch(live blogging a TV show/Sports event etc). So imo Surfrace Pro vs Yoga 13/XPS12 is not clear win for either side but more of a form factor vs functionality toss up.
