The blatant hypocrisy of political correctness once again.
Let's try not to venture into the realm of 'politics' here, please. This last line is exactly the kind of comment that begins to cross that line, just so everyone is aware.
I'll also add that nobody proudly considers themselves to be members of the ethnic group known as 'trailer trash' ... whereas many are irrefutably (and proudly) associated with some particular, actual ethnicity, from birth. So the comparison you're making is not quite apples to apples.
And remember that, at this point, we know of exactly ONE person who 'has a problem' with TT ... the person in question in the OP ... so let's not overgeneralize here. Some people are hypocritical, but it doesn't make the entire concept of being 'PC' (which to many just means behaving with a modicum of sensitivity towards others) ... 'blatantly hypocritical'. It's all in the practice of the individual
I think it's interesting to consider the possibility that they actually thought to make TT white with the specific purpose of not offending African Americans, so that it would come off as 'funny, with maybe a bit of social commentary' as opposed to 'stereotyping'. I'd not be shocked at all if that were the case.Edited by brettjv - 2/5/13 at 11:26pm
