Loop Review (Now moved to 900D) - Page 7

I have almost all the parts already, but I'm just waiting for the 900D before I can build my "Superman machine". I'll be sharing my build process on this forum. I'm getting the acetyl-nickel plated blocks for everything. Evidently EK have changed their plating process to address the flaking issues.

It will be fully lit with 2 seperate red and blue uv water cooling loops, alternating red and blue sleeved mb/pci-e cables, and will include the following components:
•ASUS Rampage IV Extreme X79 motherboard w/ EK Fullboard waterblocks (3/8ID; 5/8OD tubing - red uv)
•Intel 3930K cpu (targeted for 5GHz oc) w/ XSPC Raystorm waterblock (blue led & 1/2ID; 3/4OD tubing - blue uv)
•16Gb Corsair Dominator 2133MHz ram
•2x Geforce GTX Titans in SLI w/ EK FC waterblocks & backplates (1/2ID; 3/4OD tubing - blue uv)
•Corsair HX1050 psu
•CPU/GPU loop: EK Acetal Dual Pump top w/ 2x D5 strong pumps; Red 400ml uv tube resevoir; 1x XSPC extreme 480 rad in bottom of case - push/pull + XSPC RX420 radiator in top of case - push/pull
•Motherboard loop: XSPC 750 Pump/res Dual slot 5.25"; XSPC RX360 radiator installed in front of case

•Corsair 900D case - of course!
•Corsair 120Gb ssd (not sure which yet) for OS (Win7-64bit Professional)
•Western Digital 600Gb Velociraptor hdd
•Patriot Pyro 240Gb ssd (for games & fast load stuff)
•Caviar Black 7200rmp 2Tb hdd (optional)
•Fan controller (undecided)
•Monitor: Yamkasi Catleap Extreme 2B 2560x1440p @ 120Hz
•LG 20x Blue-ray/DVD/CD-write drive

I should be starting the build within the next couple weeks...just waiting on the 900D. thumb.gif

Cheers,
RJT

the motherboard loop makes no sense whatsoever. a complete xspc rx360 kit to cool a motherboard and nothing else. that isnt called overkill. its called what the hell did you do that for.
integrate that mobo into the cpu/gpu loop and everything should run damned close to ambient. youre talking about a 360 + 420 + 480.

Not a bad idea. I was just a little worried about the restriction of a single loop passing through the mb blocks, but I guess with triple redundant pumps I'll be cherry! Ty for the idea.

I'm going dual loop also - first loop being cpu, mobo blocks and ram with a single 480 rad, second loop being the 3 680's with a 480 and 240

Also I'm almost positive you wont be able fit the 360 rad in the front when you have anything larger in the bottom than a 360, something to consider

Jameswalt are you going to have a build log? I really want to see the capacity the 900d has.

Yes I will. While it won't be as deep and detailed as some, it will be informative and filled with good photos. The build itself will be quite epic, no expense has been spared, and with the way it's looking both loops will consist of 95% crystal links, rotary fittings and custom acrylic tubing rather than traditional hose tubing. I've spent $1000 at least on fittings alone. I have some stuff already done, fans are painted, gpu blocks are on and mobo blocks are on. As soon as I receive the case I'll get started.

I read in the Godzilla thread that yes, a 360 will fit in the front with a 480 in the bottom. I expect the front will only be one set of fans pushing though.

Just wondering if peeps think the EX480 and RX420 will be enough rad for the 3930 (overclocked) and two oc'd Titans? I'm thinking maybe ill keep the two separate loops, with a RX360 dedicated to the mb loop. One loop will glow red, the other blue, in-keeping with my "superman" theme. I can add a 240 rad to the CPU/GPU loop if necessary.

While I don't see the sense in having the motherboard in a loop of its own unless you are using just a single 120 or 140 radiator (but even then...), I would make a suggestion:

Try and use some of the Koolance MVR-100 or another Universal VRM/MOSFET Blocks to cool the BACK SIDE VRM's on the Rampage IV Extreme, as they get very hot and quickly become the limiting factor should you attempt to overclock to around 4.7-5.0Ghz (exactly where and when they become the limiting factor is case and cooling dependent).

Also, rather than having a motherboard-only loop, why not get a pair of Bitspower (or EK, if you must) 4DIMM Corsair Dominator blocks and throw them in the same loop? Sure, it makes no difference in overclocking (and the Dominator Platinum kits don't overclock well anyway), but honestly it's the only benefit I see to the Dominator Platinum RAM over the kits costing much less (G.Skill and Mushkin), as you don't have to pray that removing the heatsinks will rip off IC's and destroy your memory just to install a universal kit.

I personally think that doing something like a black and white color scheme (my favorite, but everyone started copying me mad.giftongue.gif) would be awesome; have one loop use a certain color tubing, and the other loop have a different color. If you're getting clear blocks, you could definitely go with Mayhem's Pastels, as I think the RAM blocks and motherboard blocks look incredible with the opaque dyed water running through them (especially the white or black).
The black dye also looks really cool in a reservoir if you get the Lund Plexi LED fittings which situate the LED's an inch and a half or so inside the reservoir (rather than just being a stop fitting with a hole for an LED), as it makes the coolant glow!

I've spent $1000 at least on fittings alone. I have some stuff already done, fans are painted, gpu blocks are on and mobo blocks are on. As soon as I receive the case I'll get started.

Freakin pimp, can't wait to see... Max the case out with radiators. Like 2 360 monstas, a 480 monsta, and a couple 120 or 240s.
