Either way, not expecting all that much until Steamroller.

My 8320 did 4.4GHz stable on stock volts. Did I sell off a golden chip?

The only way I will ever build one is if their motherboard partners pick up their game a little and offer an itx motherboard that does'nt explode when you use it.

I definitely won't buy Richland because it's just a "refreshed" version of Trinity even though it has Piledriver cores instead of Bulldozer. I might buy Richland only if the performance is 50%-100% better than Trinity and the price stay dirt cheap. We also realize that AMD will release a greater CPU in the future that is Excavator and that will make us not too interested with their upcoming CPUs before Excavator especially Steamroller. Maybe next time AMD should stop "spreading" their list of upcoming APUs and CPUs. I know that it's good to spread the list so that we know what to expect and plan our budget for the next APUs and CPUs but once we know that they will release a better APUs and CPUs soon, we might not interested with the current and upcoming ones. And that's not good for AMD.

You do realize that Haswell is only a 5-10% increase according to current rumours? And that 5% singlethreaded average performance increase put AMD from being beaten at virtually everything excluding niche scenarios to being only really behind in gaming and a few other every-day things most people would struggle to see the difference in? If Steamroller is as good as it's rumoured to be then AMD will be much, much closer to Intel than they currently are.

Quite honestly, if these refreshes do give us a small increase in performance or OCability then I'd be happy, I'm personally going to wait for Steamroller unless my CPU dies.

as a overclocker on an overclocking website I am certainly looking forward to the 2nd iteration of pd. Should be fun to overclock, and with a possibility of a slight maturing process, it should be fun to play around with. Even though my 8350 is totally fine with any game out now any who.

Anyone here know much about the future chips for AMD? I know the Piledriver is getting added to a bit...but what about the SteamRoller and Excavator? Supposed new chips likely not to make it until 2014 and beyond. I'm just curious if AMD is going to be able to hold their own and if their future releases will be able to compete a bit better with Intel's chips? And compete "performance wise", not just in price because I know AMD has them beat there and their chips are amazing for price to performance...but I really thought the Piledriver was going to be close to tops but it fell well short. I know AMD doesn't plan to keep up in the overall race for best cpu in the world but I'm hoping they can stay in the competitive race with Intel and wondering if their next series or two may be able to do that or is it just a next in the line of "mid-range" or "price per performance" chips?

I think some of you are missing the point. What stands out is that the Richland A10-6800K comes with a 8670 Gpu and the capability to be paired with the 7000 series radeon cards for a Dual Graphics setup, and a boost in GPU clock speed as well. It will be much better than a 7000 series GPU paired with a 6000 Series card for Dual Graphics as is with Trinity A10-5800K. Also Richland APU's will support 2133MHZ Memory Standard, compared to 1866MHZ Standard with Trinity. With a 300MHZ Base CPU Clock boost, and 5-10 Percent performance gain as well. I think there is no question in a massive gain in Graphics, Memory, and Yes a boost in Performance as well. Not too mention 3 new chipsets on the new motherboards that will be offered. The A88X, A78X, A68X. For me it is a no brainer in purchasing Richland. Can't wait to see the new boards also.
