If I played consoles I'd be pissed about both the online requirement (since not everyone has access to internet in their home. Some use dongles and stuff like that) and also, yep, no ability to buy preowned games or trade in your games. When I was younger I used to buy games new all the time. Especially on birthdays and Christmas and money I'd saved up. Yet, in-between those periods I'd want new games and such so I'd trade in the ones I never played and get other preowned or new games.

If they want to build themselves on the back of this and make billions, then decide that's not enough and they should make even more, unfairly, unjustly, and against all consumer rights... then screwwwwwwwww them.

Resell/give/loan take your pick. Always online is pretty stupid too, in my opinion, although it does not affect me.

When did game developers get all this special attention? I can resell my DVD collection if I so choose, I can resell my CD collection also.

Uhh...but don't a lot of console games require online passes to play online these days? Like Battlefield 3 does require that to play online on the console. i.e you are forced to make an origin account to play games?

Plus, there is xbox live and PSN which both require a constant internet connection to play games in MP,no? I also remember that a lot of ps3 titles had placed always on internet connection to prevent people from acquiring the game through unethical means. Yeah, I am all for reselling titles that we no longer need but I can only think of that being the reason why so many are upset by these "unconfirmed" reports.

Makes sense. Gotta have an always on connection so they can watch you through the Kinect. (Anyone remember that? lool)

Games are different from the media you mentioned; firstly, most games require support after release ,development of patches, etc. Thats money.

But yes, it does suck.

The only thing that'll continue a steady decline is in the quality of our games, and an increase in cash grab titles. Well, assuming the industry continues to follow the same trend.

Most people I know, myself included, are far more interested in the single player aspect and the multiplayer comes secondary.

Piracy is at unheard of levels in developing countries in the console market. Its the console gamers dirty little secret.

No multiplayer on silver though

i wouldnt mind paying an extra £5 for a pre-owned game. it would probably still work out cheaper than buying a brand new one.

I would be shocked if sony didnt offer the same kind of service. i understand that developers need there cut but the developers also need to understand that we cant always afford new games and that pre-owned is the way to go
post #258 of 319
a friend of mine sent me this link http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/df-hardware-spec-analysis-durango-vs-orbis and i must say those are some high specs. anyway considering the drm and ban of resale they want to implement i guess its better that these consoles have such expensive specs. i mean the bigger loss for them when people wont buy it.

and in eu they will have to sell a version which enables the resale otherwise EU will punish them, as specifically MS has not many friends among the EU judges and courts

This may be uncomfirmed however Sony's patent and now several different reports are popping up with similar information... it's starting to look like these rumors may be true.

Not everyone plays multi player on consoles. Most of my friends do not. They play a little online but usually get games for the single player aspect... GTA IV, Gran Turismo, Burnout, etc. or sports games to play in the same room together.

Stop releasing beta versions of your games then. Also DRM is causing many of the problems people have on PCs...

No other industry in the world is allowed to sell defective products that are ineligible for return... just the gaming industry... on top of that, you can no longer resell your games on the PC and maybe soon on consoles too? Lobbying Congress much? I think so.

IF MS is going to introduce this Sony will do it as well , that kind of restriction can't be introduced only by one side , if MS did it and Sony didn't they would basically give away their sales to Sony , there has to be some kind of understanding or deal between Sony and MS on this.
Not trying to be a conspiracy nut it can't be implemented by one side they would lose too much on it , and like i said before this will result in big increase in piracy numbers on both consoles.
At any rate this will only make PC gaming more attractive thumb.gif
