Learn electronics before you speak, you obviously know nothing about Mosfets or how they work and rely on PWM.

These are PWM quadrouplers, this simply splits the PWM signal TO DRIVE MORE MOSFETS. So it is actually 32 phases, learn about these components, then talk.

See how it even says on that picture, 4x 8 phase or 1x 32 phase. Also please tell me, does your whatever phase R4 have the ability to deliver 2KW to the processor?

UP7 and an H60 to cool it? I really hope that you're planning to put it in a slush bucket or something at some point. The UP7 was designed for suicide runs.

It has quadruplers; there are no true 32 phase VRMs. Still has 32 MOSFETs, but it has quadruplers.

as far as I can tell, the quadruplers just increase max current output, unlike increasing the actual phase count, which decreases ripple.

AND TO THE OP:

Horrible choice of processor, you shouldve got at least an ivy bridge i5, maybe an i7 since you have enough money to buy a up7 in the first place.

As soon as you insert a graphics card the integrated turns off anyway so I have no idea why you chose such a poor processor.
nothing is wrong with sandy bridge. It's better than Ivy if you are not willing to delid.

Partially Correct but thanks a lot for pointing that out as I was about to. The IR3563A PWM used on UP7 is a true 8 phase PWM as stated on Sin's review of UP7.

Vanelay, just like in that one thread about the melted CPU pin. PLEASE STOP.

You have no knowledge of these things. Let me explain a few things. Mosfets are driven at specific PWM frequencies, in the case of the UP7, 215Khz. This PWM frequency is simply a signal to turn the mosfets on and off which is what actually does the voltage regulation and allows for more amperage (simplest explanation that I could think of)

Now the only purpose that the Quadruplers serve is to take 1 pwm signal, and copy it to 4 signals. This is just the signal, this signal then goes out to each phase. There is indeed 32x power mosfets/ power phases on the UP7.

I will not tolerate some inexperienced person such as yourself trying to talk over me AGAIN and trying to disprove the facts that I know.

And your also wrong about saying sandy is better than ivy. Lets say you can get an Ivy i5 up to 4.5Ghz, it will perform about the same as a Sandy at 4.8-5Ghz. Once again, you are wrong.

I always seem to mix up the words VRM and PWM.

umm... 32 phases with no doublers? (don't pull the semantics card and say that you didn't say quadruplers)

edit: also, I have no idea what thread you are talking about

just remember haswell is on a new socket, lga1150. your current z77-up7 will NOT be compatible with it.

wow that is expensive, I worded my reply wrong lol sorry about that I meant to say if they make a up7 equivalent for haswell I will be ready to get it by then.

I am not a huge overclocker (currently have the 2550k at 4.2 on my test bench) i got this board based on looks alone that may not be a good reason for most but for me it was enough.

I am fine with sandy no need for ivy......yet.

i must say i thought you meant that, just wanted to make sure thats what you meant smile.gif
yeah, the prices here are just crazy... i also want a up7 z77 and the equivalent z87 (rumored chipset for haswell) for benching. lucky i have some friends in the US who would buy and ship to me if it works out cheaper. 0% import tax here on computer parts for personal use smile.gif
