Maximum overclock for a Sapphire HD7950 Vapor-X

Thread Starter
Hello OC.net smile.gif,

So I have the Sapphire HD7950 Vapor-X for some time now and I'm in love smile.gif.
What I would like to know is how far this card can overclock. How far did you get it?

So I am running at 1100mhz core clock and 1500mhz memory clock with the power limit at +20. I haven't tried to go any further as I don't want to bust it suddenly.

So just a simple question smile.gif if you have this card, at what OC speeds did you get it? higher then mine? or are my settings already at the very edge of the card without giving artifacts?

Best regards,

#Robert

@ 1.24V core / 1.63V memory

I run a daily overclock of 1085/1650 on stock voltages of BIOS2 (boost bios).
BIOS1 has a higher core voltage and I get 1175mhz core with that.

Oh? when I use the stock Bios and set it at 1100 and 1600 I get artifacts and the card crashes. Also I can't change the GPU voltage. Only the power limit.

Amazing memory over clock.

Do you know the brand of memory it has on it? Elpida? HYNX? SAMSUNG?

What is the Part Number?

It seem Sapphire in particular from what I've seen has excellent memory OCs, my 7970 can do 1900 on 1.65v. Galaxy, what program are you using to attempt to change voltage? Sapphire Trixxx and MSI After Burner have both worked well for most people as far as I know if the card is capable of voltage OCing. If you find you can't change the voltage I think a new BIOS should solve your issue.

There are two bioses on the Vapor-X. You can switch between them with the button on the top edge of the card.

I use MSI afterburner. The reason I can't change the voltage because I read a lot about it being voltage locked? Some say you can bypass this trough MSI by forcing constant voltage into the card which in the end is just a countdown till the card burns. I won't and will not do that.

I got a image right here. Those are my settings right now and as you can see core voltage is empty/locked?

Edit:
Big topic about the locking thing with my card. http://www.overclock.net/t/1303929/7950-vapor-x-voltage-locked
