Help me on my first Gaming Rig Please! - Page 2

A Z77 motherboard isn't necessary for Sandy Bridge, but it can provide superior overclocking to a P67 or Z68 board.  Plus, it's getting harder and harder to find good P67 and Z68 boards and easier and easier to find good Z77 boards.

It's a computer!

^Yup. Gigabyte is a great brand to stick with. I have bad luck with MSI and Asus. I have Gigabytes in all the machines I own and build for friends.

Questions:
Is everything in the new list (found at the bottom of this post) compatible?
How do I install Windows7 using a usb?
Does my case under Optional Parts also work with these parts? Will it all fit?
Do I have to worry about getting more power cables for fans?

Hey everyone... Thank you so much for the help. Like I said, I'm new at this.
What I've Changed:
Lowered from 16 to 8GB of Corsair Vengeance RAM
Went from 500GB to 1TB hard drive (Thank you so much for noticing that!)
Got better DVI cables (Thanks for that suggestion... I know how important cables are.)

Replies:
dklic6 "As an owner of both the Antec 300 and an NZXT Source 210, I can tell you you will get a better case for the money if you go with an NZXT Source 210"
I gotta think about that.... will my case under optional parts work for what I have... will it fit... is it a good idea?

Padzilla "Also you could get the 830 instead of an 840 if its cheaper." "And if you're like me, you probably don't need a dvd burner. You can install windows off usb."
Thanks so much for your comment about the RAM.
830 is more expensive. How do I install off a usb?

redxmaverick
I love you for catching that 1TB deal! and I do music stuff so 2 monitors are preferable, yes.

For $110 you can get a better case.

If you are near a micro center you can buy the newer 3570k + a $50 discount for the mobo if you buy them together so that would save you money.

If you are still in school / know somebody in college you can get windows for free

that's about ~ $150 worth of savings.

Look for a GFX card off the for sale forum here or at [H]ardforum. = more saving.

I don't think $40 is worth saving on the PSU when it's a comparison between the 550W SeaSonic G Series and the Corsair CX600.  The CX600 is a relatively cheap and low-quality non-modular unit and the 550W SeaSonic G Series is a high-end modular one.

PSUs like the CX600 are better suited for computers like HTPCs and cheap budget builds.
