[The Verge] Google-designed touchscreen 'Chromebook Pixel' concept revealed in leaked video

Google already has several partners participating in its Chromebook program, but it seems the company may be planning to release a laptop designed by its own engineers. At least that's the takeaway from a video that appeared on the web today, which points to a so-called Chromebook Pixel that will reportedly match Apple's Retina MacBook Pro with a resolution of 2560 x 1700. It certainly takes after Cupertino's high-end portable in looks. "The more pixels we add, the more wonderful the world," says the video's narrator. Even more tantalizing are hints that this high-res display is in fact a touchscreen.

Would be fairly interesting to see. Powered possibly by Tegra 4?

Quick, everybody tell Google how pointless touchscreens are on notebooks and how nobody wants to touch their screens!

How is the computer going to get better over time? Are they going to give free upgrades? I doubt that.

Hey google, make 1440p and 1600p monitors, sell them for around 200 bucks, we love you forever.

If only they would put a real OS on it instead of the internet tethered Chrome OS. Thebody has all of my must-haves (chicklet keys, oversized centered trackpad, sleek and streamlined exterior) and I'v gotten spoiled by my Retina MBP that I wouldn’t ever consider a non Hi-DPI laptop. Google seems well on their way to rounding out their ecosystem of products to compete with Apple.

The thought of smudges and fingerprints on my screen disturbs me.

Well...if they did they'll probably be made by LG and would require a crap load of adjustments in order to work. High DPI is pointless half the time. Yay for sharper text and distorted images... :\

Images are never distorted on my Retina Macbook and the text is almost indistinguishable from text on paper. IMHO, it makes a huge difference when your staring at code in an IDE all day. All standard DPI monitors look fuzzy to me now.

Really? So tell me this, what happens when you take a 500x500 image and interpolate it to 600x600? What happens inbetween the pixels?

Anything that is scaled with lose it's fidelity unless it is one-to-one. Since that is rarely the case when viewing content on the tablet or monitor...
