Nice.

I think I'll keep my Note 2 for a while before I jump on this ship.

Awesome! Can't wait to see the specs of the Note III. Hopefully my contract will be nearly up by then; still loving my Galaxy Nexus with CM10 until then, though.

It's not broken, but thanks for attempting to insinuate it is. There is literally nothing wrong with PenTile. It's more reliable and lasts longer than traditional RGB and there are no issues with the colour reproduction or sharpness of images.

However, if you’re a screen obsessive, then the shortcomings may be more noticeable; but until the Galaxy S III can be compared, side-by-side with the One X, the Note, the iPhone 4S and even the S II, it most certainly shouldn’t be condemned as inferior.

I never implied it was broken, but the color cast is clearly there. And screwing around with some color settings that just desaturates doesn't fix it.

And yeah, there are things wrong with PenTile. Obviously it being less sharp at equivalent resolutions compared to regular pixel arrangements. Still, there's a chance bumping it up to 1080p will mask it since the density will be so high.

Jumping to a different market to use as a comparison it's like the Foveon sensor. It has a stacked pixel arrangement which causes it to have a lower resolution. But because there are more pixels they can lay the claim it has a higher MP count.

The difference is only noticeable under a microscope, which no-one views their phone with.

It doesn't look less sharp. That's the selling point of the display type, that it can look as sharp, with ~30% less subpixels. And again, if you have any kind of obscene colour cast on your phone (if you even own an SGS3) you should take it back. I've put my phone side by side with the LG N4, iPhone 5, HTC One X and the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. The S3 looks great, as they all do. No less sharp or in any way inferior to the others.

At 720p there is no loss of sharpness.

The difference is noticeable to the naked eye. If the pixel arrangement was so effective they wouldn't have dropped it with the Note 2.

And I'm not talking about the color cast being obscene, so maybe it's just me being picky with colors due to what I normally do, but yeah, cast is evident for me.

The Note II only had 267PPI on an OLED display, the S3 had a 300PPI opn an AMOLED display. They use different technologies.

The OneX uses an IPS panel and I can't tell the difference between it to the naked eye, and neither can my friend who owns the OneX. I think you're under the placebo effect due to the bad rep PenTile got on lower quality and resolution displays. There is no noticable difference, and if you think you cna tell, then you need to unlodge the microscope from your eye socket.

Then again, you've already been clear on your dislike for the SGS3, so there's no point attempting to reason or discuss this with you.
