[Android Community] Samsung Galaxy S IV 5-inch 1080p display goes into production - Page 18

Yeah, sure, if you look at your phone less than an inch from your eyeball, there's a difference.

Otherwise? No. Samsung displays are reknown for being good, sharp and clear. All the things Marin is attempting, badly, to say they're not.

^ Two videos showing close ups of the screens using a camera lens does not prove that there is a perceptible difference to the naked eye, or that there's a green tint on SGS3 screens.

How can someone say there's no difference between the S3's screen and the One x's or even the Nexus 4's screen? While at the end it does come down to taste there's a huge, HUGE difference.

Now, i happen to own a one x, and i'm not being biased even though i'm going to say that the one x's screen (in my opinion) has much nicer whites along with natural color contrast. But it can also be said that the sgs3 has much nicer blacks along with more saturated colors. So win/win.

However, although i do own a One X, i must say that i wish i had gone for the sgs3. Samsung, in term of updates, reliability and support, takes it to a whole new level. They are absolutely fantastic. Their software runs great compared to my one x. (yes, i have a friend who owns a sgs 3). Performance wise.. SGS 3>>>>>> ONE X. Screen wise, i'd say it really depends on the person. IMHO the sgs3 does have a bluish tint to it the last i compared - talking about when comparing whites. However, this wouldn't bother me the least, the fact that it lasts 2 hours longer than my one x while web browsing is a win factor on its own.

At the end of the day i've learned my lesson, it doesn't come down to the screen. It comes down to the package as a whole and in term of phones nowadays, i must say samsung, keep up the great work!

Since we are continuing useless arguments about a device that doesn't need to be perfect because it is a phone, I will add that my Panasonic P55VT50 plasma TV display >>> than my SGS3. So there's that. thumb.gif

I know right? How can someone not see the difference? I guess It mostly just happens when someone argues a point for so long that it's too late to turn back, have some humility, embrace the cold hard facts, and admit that they are wrong.

Also I do agree with you on your other points too. I honestly ended up selling the one x because it didn't have a removable battery. They both have their pros and cons and it's unmistakable that the screens can be factored into that decision.

Nah, it';s about the point. If you read, Marin was trying to say that PenTile is a bad aspect of the SGS3, and I'm saying it's hardly an issue because it's just as clear and sharp, which it is.

If I was wrong I'd back off and admit it, but I'm not. The screen on the SGS3 is great, like many others.

Also please, Rubers. Stop it. SAMOLED looks like crap compared to ANY other display technique.

1) It has an aquamarine tint.
2) Due to PenTile, the 'dead' space between pixels and subpixels is much higher than traditional stripe arrangement.
3) Color accuracy is not comparable to IPS/PLS in any sort of way or form.

And that can be empirically demonstrated.

My Neo V's measly SLCD display kicks the nuts of the SGS2 (they are contemporaneous) in any way you look at it, except in size and direct sunlight visibility.

this is the 3-4th time someone mentioned this, so rubers this seriously can't be some "rumor" or whatever. most users probably recognized this, because on some phones it becomes annoying to look at bluish white screens. my S3 shows colors a tad better than the iphone 5 does, but while mine is in the dynamic mode or something. when its in normal/cinema mode, the ip5 kicks this thing's displays arse.
