WOW......what? City XL platinum? - Page 2

I am not impressed at all with the CitiesXL series. The gameplay is sub par at best. Graphics were its only advantage over the old SimCity 4.

lets see what sim city 5 is bringing to the table.

Not a day 1 purchase though, even though I want a city builder game pretty bad

I'm very concerned with Simcity 5's very small city maps. I played beta and was not impressed. It feels smaller than even SC4's small maps. Apparently that's the only city size they plan to launch with as well

Definitely, it will be very similar to how they handle the Sims.

Yeah. I miss Simcity even more now... before this new abomination.

I've been looking at Cities XL for a couple weeks now. After the whole SimCity insanity, I figured I'd pick this game up. Steam has it on sale for 33% off for another 13 hours, so I went ahead and picked it up. You don't need steam to play it and you only have to be online to register the game (something that SimCity needs to consider). I love the single player mode.

My only concern is whether they managed to fix ANY of there old issues.

Its not that that dont care, its that they cant fix them.

The original devs (monte cristo) went bankrupt because cities XL sucked big time, some company called focus home bought the IP and have simply milked and added a few new buildings to what they purchased from monte cristo. They dont have the right people there to fix the game proper as it would basically need to be rewritten from the ground up with a better engine. Im sorry to say but cities XL will never be any good.
