If ima spend 400+ ima spend that ish on a pc upgrade like my gpu or something=boom new console right there

I really dislike people comparing console gaming to PC gaming and which one does it "better". As technically, consoles are "better" at gaming; the level they run at on what type of hardware they use, PC could only dream of that kind of efficiency.

The other draw of console gaming is the controller and those of us with carpal tunnel and arthritis. A controller is more comfortable and last painful than a keyboard and mouse, so when my hands hurt and I can't PC game, consoles are a great outlet. This is why I have an XBox 360 controller and a Sega Saturn controller for my PC. thumb.gif

No matter what the cost of the new gaming console. People will still be waiting in line to get the latest and greatest no matter what. Hard Core gamers here on OCN will gripe about spending that money on a new graphics card. Yes, rightfully so. I would. But, I know that gamers will just have to have everything eventually. Like ME...

$400-500 i think is a great price for a console, but it all depends on the games they release.

I hardly play on my consoles anymore, and I was debating if I would even bother with buying the next gens. If they release a bad ass console exclusive game , it will give me reason to buy another blue ray player... even though i have 0 blue rays. $400 yes, $600 no.

I've been seeing the price of $430 being thrown around a lot.

400-499 is a reasonable price to me since I love many genres of games. Plus I don't expect there to be a whole line of killer titles within the first couple years. Once the AAA titles start rolling out every other quarter, the PS4 will probably have a price cut by then and that's when I'll grab a PS4.

But then there's crazy ppl like me who pay well over a good amount to play 2-5 titles on Ultra. tongue.gif But the PC games that require that type of pricy hardware are usually FPS like BF3 and Crysis and RPGs like Witcher and Skyrim.

So for the price of the console and 10-15 games of different genres that will equal about a PC gaming rig.

15 games x £40 each = £600 + £350 for the console = £950

I could make a High-End Gaming PC for less than £800, then spend £150 on 3 new games and a few gaming bundles w/ 3-4 games inside them, then you also get 2-3 FREE games with every AMD 7900 GPU right now.

The ps3 was $700 when it first came out, then the price quickly lowered to about $450 or so.
I probably won't be getting one unless there's going to be a bunch of jrpgs.

Not sure why people say the PS3 was overpriced.

It was the cheapest Blu Ray player when it was released. Oh yeah it also played games and had decent online interface and functionality with a 60gb HD. No other Blu Ray player could come close to that.

I will gladly buy both nex gen consoles, for their sports games alone. Online player base for that segment of gaming dwarfs PC.

Yep. I know someone who bought one on release day for that price. 16 year old me was quite impressed.
