Basically 9x the cost of a PS4. 22K x 9 = 198k which is close to the price of a fully done up Gallardo. So the comparison is right on. Back on topic I have no idea what my gtx690 will play in 5 years because it will be replaced in the next 6-10 months. I like to stay on top of technology unlike a console which will give you the same graphics for the next 7 years. I love all the talk of ohh it will take them a few years to get the potential out of a Playstation. Its a 7850 its garbage sorry. Like I said I'm all for a new console. My wife enjoys the singstar and dancing games and I needed to upgrade my blu-ray player in the family room anyways. For everyday gaming entertainment its just not for me. 1080p at only 30fps is pretty pathetic when your used to 2560x1440p at 60fps.

And you are the exact definition of someone who is not a gamer, sorry. It's about the games, not the graphics (and I hardly turn on my consoles). And since when is a 7850 garbage?

Owning a lambo doesn't mean you are a racer, either.

Did you just fabricate your own definition of a "gamer" or something?

Your analogy is also pretty laughable. If you have a Lambo and you compete in races, you're a racer. So I'm pretty sure if you have a graphics card (be it high end or low end) and play lots of games, you're a gamer.

Also, gameplay, graphics and even music are all important. not just gameplay.

It didn't say "you compete in races".

He was saying that owing a car that is sometimes used in races doesn't make you a racer.

Meaning that just because you own a PC instead of a console, doesn't make you any more of a gamer.

I agree all aspects of a game are important. But many people try to act as if graphics are the only requirement.

As an avid player of my Xbox360 and PC I can guarantee you that graphics is not the only requirement to be a happy gamer.

A gamer is a person who plays video games. The end.

car vs computer comparison is idiotic at best...

a high end PC in 5 years won't out perform a new mid-range computer.

A 10 year old sports car can and will still whip a new econobox's ass...not to mention it's probably even more fun because it's lighter and has less computer/tech/aids that basically does half of the driving for you. Reliability may be another thing though...which goes back to point out it's a ludacris comparsion.

I expected more from someone with a rx-7 in his/her avatar.

I want to point out that you can not play games with just a GPU. You need to first buy the Mobo, CPU, RAM, HDD, PSU, then finally the GPU (also a case if you want to make it the same as a console).

So if your going to compare apples to apples, build a complete full system for the same price as the console.

Even then the console will run games better.

ye and how many does buy new psu, hdd, ram, mobo everytime they buy a new gpu? not many

I have an upgrade schedule of about five years. That's a new Mobo ($150), RAM ($50), CPU ($200), GPU ($200), with a new GPU halfway through ($200). $800 every five years gets me something that performs more than twice as well as a console IMO.
Everything else is a one time expense (or at least very spread out), the cost over time is minimal.

So my GTX 660 + i5 2500k will last me another 5 years?

Exactly. I've had my PS3 for my than 6 years now, only spent like $400 on it. Many people on this forum spend money on GPUs and stuff like crazy, I guess they're rich. But yeah the industry sucks money out of these people it's not even funny. Like what, every new year there's a new Nvidia GPU out? Thing is overrated. I only built a PC to prepare for GTA V.

When it comes to cheaper gaming, console is the winner, no question.

I've got over $2k into my gaming PC. $2k to play console ports. I'm smart.
