Hey all,

New build in the works, and I've decided to do it top down this time which included selling off my 3 x Acer 23" monitors and upgrading those as well.

I intend to push 3 of these new ASUS beauties: Monitors...
Pic (Click to show)

..with 3 GTX 680s.

I'll be waterblocking the three so I've narrowed it down to two suitable reference cards.

Option A: EVGA 02G-P4-2680-KR GeForce GTX 680 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card x 3
Pic (Click to show)

Option B: PNY VCGGTX6804XPB GeForce GTX 680 4GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 SLI Support Video Card Pic (Click to show)

These cards will sit on a Maximus V Extreme with a 3770K.

I reckon my question is.. will the extra RAM prove worthwhile or even be accessible to me? The price difference is really negligible though if raw RAM will sit uncooked, I'd rather opt out of it and spend money elsewhere.

Lastly, if I really missed any hot shot GTX 680 reference card that would work excellent in a triple card setup, do tell!

As always, thanks and much love! biggrin.gif

drool.gif those monitors....

i'd say 4GB. While it wont be saturated in ALL games... there will be times that youll go over 2GB especially with newer games. That way youre also ready for other stuff to come out in the future.

Considering you are gaming at 5760x1080, then you won't need those extra GB's. I only see you using them if you were going 7680x1440/1600. Good luck on your build biggrin.gif

If performance rumors are true then I would go with a soon to release Titan. Or at least wait until some info is released on them in the next few weeks.

If you cant wait i would go with the 4gb cards, but i have seen some issues with possible 256bit memory interface limitations when close to or maxing out vram on those cards.

BTW Awesome monitor choice!!!!!

Make sure to stop by the Surround club thumb.gif http://www.overclock.net/t/780396/official-nvidia-surround

Yeah with bezels like that... i wouldnt care if i didnt have a single stand for all three...

i tried looking for benchmarks for 680 4GBs in 2 way SLI at least... couldnt find any. Only single card configs.. didn't spot any info on VRAM usage either.

Oh yeah! Forgot about Titan! I'd hold out for Titan and see how the performance is...

and Swolern is right... the 256bit memory interface might hurt it some... but i still cant find good benchmarks...

And yet, I'm using 2010mb VRAM on the Crysis 3 MP beta maxed out with only 4x MSAA ONLY @ 1080P. If you are going to drop that kind of money on cards, why gimp yourself with less vram? New games are only going to use more and more, especially if they like to use AA at all...
