Internet Speeds in new Home

My friend just moved, and in their area, they have AT&T and comcast (thank god its not just AT&T)

anyways, the fastest speeds at&t offers is 26 mbps for $65 a month

and for comcast xfinity, he is debating between blast! 30/6 for 75 or extreme 50 which is 50/15 $115

Im telling him to go for the extreme 50, but i want to know if $115 is fair pricing for 50/15 as I'm not an expert on internet speeds and pricing

Also, For internet installation, I assume its as simple as connecting the cable to the modem and registering them modem MAC with the ISP

anyways, if you could just list your ISP experiences on the prices you pay and the advertised speeds, or any other opinion, i would appreciate it, thanks smile.gif

It depends on what he does with it. If he just checks email and basic surfing, then the 26 mbps is good. But if he's into streaming and online gaming, then the comcast blast would be good then.

When I was living with my bro and just paying rent,I had comcast wired to my room and I was getting 5 -10 mbps and was paying $50.

After I bought my condo,I had comcast for tv only and had to a total rewire because the outside line went bad. That was about $150.

Now,I have att dsl and I get 5 -6 mbps and pay $40 a month.I am looking for something faster now.

The att you mentioned before, 26mbps, is that dsl or u-verse?

yeaa their entire family all use internet, the kids use netflix, the parents use hulu. my friend himself games alot, and their family uses VOIP as their phone.

if he gets the 50 down, im gonna be staying over alot biggrin.gif I help out their family alot so i guess they wouldnt mind if i mooch off their internet connection sometimes

the 26 down is U verse

i did a bit of digging and found this

the price for extreme 50 drops all the way down to $69, but i guess if price drops do happen they could just call and have the prices adjusted?

Then get the extreme 50. I will be trying to see if I can get the u-verse in my area. Sometimes one town can get it,while the next can't.
