Impossible to get ME1 to run on my computer!

post #1 of 5

I've tried everything to get ME1 running properly on my computer, absolutely nothing has worked. I've uninstalled, reinstalled, patched, ran as administrator, ran steam as admin, ran offline, replaced exe with cracked, tweak with the config folder... I cannot do anything in my power to get this game working. Each time its the same result. The screen goes black as the game launches and just stays that way with the blue circle loading mouse icon, it doesn't respond at all. I can't begin to start how frustrated I am right now, it literally is borderline impossible to get working, im tapped out of ideas, I've searched the internet for the last 3 nights trying to find a fix with no results. Does anyone know any way to fix this?

Hey buddy.

I also had that black screen with blue circle but after 20-30 seconds of waiting it works for me.

I believe what I did was to run the game in compatibility mode.

Edit : Oww you are the dude I told you to run the game in compatibility mode. Sorry I did not notice.

Did you try running as Vista, Xp, Service Pack etcc.. All of them?

I'v run Masseffect on a w7 comp no issues so its not the OS. Do a fresh install and patch the game all the way. Then disable corssfire and see if it works. Your not running multiple monitors by any chance are you? Also one thing you can try is going in to the config file and changing the resolution manually to your native 2048x1152. Sometimes it defaults to 800x600 and does not display properly.

IRC its BIOEngine.ini in \Program Files\Mass Effect\Engine\Config

and the parameters are:
StartupResolutionX=1280
StartupResolutionY=1024

Waited about 2 minutes with nothing, ran everything in compatibility, but I will try disabling crossfire

Nope nothing works, its all failed. It is completely impossible to run the game on my pc for some reason. Ran fine 2 years ago when I first played it, idk why its doing this now

Actually im going to try deleting my ME1 documents folder to see if that fixes anything, but I doubt it.
