Thanks.

It seems I've picked the same time as everyone to make the switch to Caselabs. Looking through the new build logs, about 80% seem to be Caselabs based.

Jim and the team must be run off their feet with orders at the moment. Great to see such a deserving business going so well.

I would go with the color that you can match other things with. Personally, for me, the brighter the better.

That blue is MDPC Grand Bleu.

I'm hoping the sleeve arrives this coming week. Currently leaning towards Vanilla Sands rather than Yellow, as I've done the really bling and bright builds and think I want to aim for a bit more subdued.

Also, I think it will go better with the Gold Monsoon Compression Fittings, with blue tubing/coolant.

Will have to test it all out and see once it arrives.

Yes, I think the larger castors are better, at least for my purposes. I roll mine across carpet, and they help a bit with that.

Grand Bleu. I almost went with that.
Actually I bought some Aquamarine as well, but never used it.

Hey Socketus

What were you planning to do reservoir wise?

I too have been looking at those Aqualis ones, but it seems all the 'fancy pants' versions with the Nanos coating and so on aren't designed to have a pump mounted directly to the bottom. The one that does have the pump on the bottom is just standard so I can't really see any advantages from other manufacturers.

Secondly, how are you planning to mount it. I have a few ideas/options at present:

1. The Aqualis all-in-one mounted to the back of the case. REQUIRES DRILLING into the case, therefore NO!!!

2. The Aqualis all-in-one mounted to the pull fans on the front 360mm Radiator. I would use the UN Designs Pump Fan Mount.

3. A 'fancy pants' Aqualis res, mounted to the fans using the above mount, and then a D5 pump mounted to the bottom fan cover. (Would require drilling into the fan cover but leaves the precious case alone) This option would have me starting to worry about overall height as the res and pump would be separate with a gap in between.

4. The easiest option by far would be to just get one of the Bitspower or EK res/pump combos that have vertical (ie from underneath rather than on the side) mounting options and mount it to the bottom fan cover plate.

What are your thoughts, this is starting to do my head in.

EDIT:

Caselabs have special plates for those bottom fan holes. Here

A few holes to mount a res is not big deal. It's a case! It's made to be modded. thumb.gif
Even if you change the mounting location, two small holes isn't going to stand out, IMO.

Yah, I haven't firmed this part of the build neither. But I like # 2, using the Un mount. Originally, it was to be the tallest res on a mount/stand - but that's the BP combo, coming in at 522mm and that's just not going to happen with a Monsta rad in top. There's 671mm vertical space inside the ST10 - throw the 86mm Monsta in, plus 25mm for at least 1 fan set, and if you're tubing runs on top of the pump, add another 25mm at least - that cuts it down to 535, leaving 13mm - about a half inch of space. And I want to put 31mm fan shrouds on that top rad, so that's not a go for me.

I did read about how one guy hated the all in one stand, how the pump mounts to the bottom of the res directly, not sure why ... he didn't elaborate. Yah, this model is the combo I was looking at

http://www.frozencpu.com/products/16078/ex-res-368/Bitspower_Dual_Single_D5_Top_Upgrade_Kit_400_-_Black_BP-D5TOPUK400P-BKBKCL.html?tl=c97s152b145#blank

but I wouldn't have the space problem with the 400mm res separate from the pump. And yah - I bought that bottom plate mount, made sense. I'm guessin that the pump will be a single D5 vario, with a top and a can, shiny, I think, much like Mandrix has.

Yeah I agree, although it will fit without shrouds, you will have no room to fill it up.

This leaves the 'all-in-one' BP (or EK) options at 250mm. I think doing it this way will leave too much of a gap at the top, meaning the top half of the window won't have res visible.

At least with the res mounted to the fans from the front rad, you can somewhat raise or lower the position for aesthetics. Although I believe some kind of basic mounting plate would need to be made to attach to the UN designs mount, as the mounts on the AQ res do not seem like they would attach perfectly by themselves.

I did manage to find the 'fancy pants' or fountain effect Aquacomputer res's with the pump base. They are on Aquacomputer's own web store, just not FCPU. Link Here

Also, they do have an 880ml variant. This will fit in between the 250 and 400 EK/BP versions in height and might be ideal for our case size. Will have a proper measure/plan once I get home from work.

EDIT:

My calculations put the 880ml res assembly at 365mm total.

Res: 285mm
Pump Top: 46mm
Pump 34mm

Add in some room for cabling and filling and I think it's still well within acceptable size, perhaps even with shrouds.
