Yeah we should have been hearing about the 8000 series rumors in December 2012 a year after the 7970 was released (Jan. 2012). Not Q4 of 2013.

^This. Nothing positive about this. If Nvidia releases the 700 series in the next few months I feel sorry for 7000 owners. Your cards value is going to take a serious dive. The 600 series came out in March 2012 so they still have some time to meet a annual deadline with new gpu's. Amd has already expired and there is nothing new in sight.

Maybe in 1080p but not 2560 or hig-res eyefinity unless you tr-fire 7970's. I'd say by the first of next year even tri-fire will begin to struggle.

Well I was upgrading my platform anyways as soon as Haswell launches, but that will also have to be a PLX chip and those boards usually don't come out at launch

You dont know what you are talking about. GCN is a totally new architecture. If they dont improve their drivers and rush the 8000 series with gcn 2.0 and hsa implement it will be disaster. Amd is not just gpu department. Kaveri will have gcn gpu with hsa.

Yay for more 7900 driver love. I spend a third of the time on Far Cry 3 restarting the game after a driver crash. Which is a shame, because this 7950 is quite an upgrade over my 460.

I just ordered a Asus PB278Q 2560X1440 and even at that res i have no doubt i will be fine with dual 670's.

I have no use for eyefinity so for me it wont apply but i see your point where it may become an issue with multi monitors lovers.

I have that monitor and a 690 which is equal to your 670's if they have a decent overclock. I hate to break it to you but its not enough. FC3 easily puts my 690 in check in 2560x1440. Crysis 3 will probably even do worse. We are in the second month of 2013 with new console's coming out these games are going to become even more demanding. A year from now your 670's will be getting chewed up in 2560. If I'm unable to source a pair of Titans I hope the 790 comes out soon. I'm already in need of more gpu power. And btw the 278Q is a incredible monitor.

It's funny because i ordered it based off a post you mentioned it in.

If i feel like the 670's are failing me then i will have to follow your lead as well then..

Either/or, I'm happy. 8000 series means shiny new GPUs and 7000 series means moar driver support.

This might mean that there's yet more frames per second to squeeze out of the 7000 series through drivers alone. Since there's that much computational power there, it needs to be utilized!

While i'm not doubting a word you're saying i had no issues running FC3 on my 7970 from start to finish.

Maybe your Card is defective or not clocked right? The game really should work well for you considering it was bundled with AMDs cards
