I don't think you're going to have much luck with this cooling method, almost every component in a power supply gets warm and needs some airflow to stay cool, but I'm interested in your results.
he is using fans as well, but yea still kinda useless.

As far as doing this myself, no. I do mod PSU's a lot, including putting 2 PSUs in one psu case, making bench PSUs, cable sleeving, custom wiring, adding logic boards and potentiometers to bench PSUs, and in one case I actually modded one PSU to power both an Xbox 360 and a ps3, though that wasn't that pretty.

Off topic, I do recommend you make yourself a DIY bench PSU if you don't have one, which consists of a PSU modified with posts (for alligator clamps and whatnot) , and built in resistance to meet the PSUs minimum load at all times. It'll allow you to individually test components, and be useful for almost anything DC power related. If you are like me, you have tons of old PSUs laying around, which makes for a cheap bench power supply.

Hi Muude, could you give me the exact measurement between the top PCI slot and the bottom of the cutout for the IO shield? Struggling to work it out on my own without a mobo to hand! Cheers biggrin.gif

awesome project! subscribed! i may do this myself, will wait to see if your's catch on fire or something first, LOL! in my build, i soldered the 230v cables over to the other side of a circuit board, blew the fuses and lit the insulation on the wires inside the PSU on fire, when the solder points loosened after a while. be carefull when toying around with high voltage stuff. by the way, where did you get ahold of the HDD blocks? i bougth a set used a while ago, could need another set.
