Seeing as I probably won't find time until after Easter to work on the project, I might as well throw a couple of ideas out there.

I have this PSU:

Seeing as everything in my casing is going to be modded, I thought of what to do with this. I am thinking of replacing the 3 surfaces that aren't connected to the casing with white acryllic and then light it from behind. Also paint the remaining metal in the same black as the rest of the casing - and the fan in the same red. Then all of the ROG colors are incorporated in the PSU.

Also, I decided to change the power button. I was originally going with an awesome black/white vandal, but this would fit nowhere in the new design.
Processed By eBay with ImageMagick, z1.1.0. ||B2

When going with the all clean look, that would mess it up. Instead, I am going to find an old switch and mount it behind the tiny front apple logo:

This should also leave me with room to fit a 3mm LED to light it up.

Ideas and thoughts anyone?

I like those ideas, I think that would look cool. The Apple logo power button would make the front look cleaner than if you used the other button.

Finally handed in my semester report, so I have time to work on the project again! Stopped by my little workshop and did some small things.. Then ended up re-designing the interior of the case!

1. After testing, I found that the radiator will be better placed in the bottom of the case. This would allow actual airflow into the case. I would have to move the pump and reservoir as well.

2. With the new design, in order to keep everythin clean, I am considering raping the case with white acrylic! By that I mean making panels and hiding everything that is possible to hide. This includes as much of the cables from the PSU and tubing from the water cooling.

I'll throw some pictures up in 24 hours when I get back home smile.gif

Updaaate!

Right.. Pictures to back up my last update on the design changes..

First pic was to see if the radiator would fit in the bottom of the case - which it of course did.. Don't know why I didn't test that earlier rolleyes.gif

Also considered flipping the PSU to create some airflow in the case instead of blowing air into the side of the case

Flipping PSU would require more metal-cutting.. Running out of cutting disks thumbsdownsmileyanim.gif

Normal fit of the PSU and radiator in the bottom

Moved the pump and res to the bottom of the case

The original backpanel was cut and adjusted to fit the m-atx layout. Looks pretty good.

And on the list of stuff I buy when I just got paid....... Bought a D-SLR so I can take some better pics for this and future builds.. And then I may have extended my build family.. My next project is a Prodigy.. But I am having a G5 delivered today as well biggrin.gif

Update time!

Today was kind of a productive day. I did the power button for the front in the logo. New cutouts for the bottom mounted radiator. And some sanding of the front.
The power button before it was filled with silicone and LEDs attached.
New piece cut out for rad and new design set up.
Power butten mounted with LEDs.

Close up of power button.

Almost forgot about the teaser..

I had a giant radiator laying around and just wanted to see if it would fit my newly purchased G5

It did!

I am thinking that with a giant radiator like that mounted directly to the back aluminum panel, it should be possible to cool it without fans.

But time will tell when I come to that mod wink.gif
