My rule of thumb with F2P is that if I spend more than 2 or 3 weeks playing it, I buy a subscription for a month and see how I like that. If it feels better and I enjoy it more after I subscribe, I stay subscribed. If not, I let my subscription lapse and play until I get bored, then move on. If you're intent on reaching cap just for the sake of it, and then find out whether you enjoy it I'd go ahead and pay 15 bucks for a month. We've all paid more than $15 for a game we played less than a month, and a subscription will get you to cap marginally quicker, and usually with less frustration, so you might actually make it ther e before getting bored.

As much as I appreciate the fresh appearance of the world and the concepts of their gameplay, no one is going to touch that game until they fix the awkward combat. Open PvP isn't fun when you're getting chain-ganked because of bad controls and UI.
