But anyway - still log in from time to time for some random PvP. smile.gif

I'm just curious why you didn't like endgame PvE was it because of a lack for it or just not that fun?

If it is for the lack of Endgame content people need to realize Guild Wars 2 is only about 6 Months old. ArenaNet is starting to add more content for endgame, as a matter of fact Flame and Frost is coming out the 26th of this month. This game is still new in terms of MMOs so it won't have as much endgame content as established MMOs such as EverQuest and World of Warcraft

I didn't find it fun. Lack of trinity plus extremely deadly mobs (and I'm talking trash here, not bosses) led to a more chaotic experience than I would like.

Also, ability to re-spawn within the instance (even during boss fights), meant you simply spawn zerg encounters until whatever you're fighting goes down.

In short, I hoped they could make a good alternative to classic trinity system, but they didn't (my opinion ofc).

I prefer the approach of RIFT (and seems ESO): keep the trinity system, but let (almost) everyone play whatever role they want.

I think it's a pretty good deal. Lol I feel the same way about the possibility of a lower price soon. In a month I'm gonna have a week off from work so I'll hold off until another discount. I hope they have it 35% off before my week off smile.gif.

Tera will keep me occupied for now, just that I've been looking around at reviews and whatnot and everyone is saying there is no endgame at all. Which is what I kind of think a MMO's main fun is endgame content

hahaha by the time i quit EQ, i had 12 classes at lvl cap and my warrior was also capped on AA's. i played each of the classes enough to feel comfortable to raid with any of my toons (as well as having sufficient AA's on each of my toons that i'm not dragging the raid down). towards the end, it just got too hard because most of the raid consisted of multiple people multiboxing and some in very critical roles which really shouldn't be multiboxed.

current MMO market is mostly about soloing (casual) where every class can do everything by themselves. it's a great concept since it avoids the "waiting 2 hrs on LFG" problem that EQ had but it also destroyed the MMO aspect of the genre. it's feels like a "massive singleplayer online game with the option for co-op" these days. there are no real "family building" experience like EQ had. you get slammed together by group finder, you all run through the whole mission not saying more then 3 words, and at the end you say "thx 4 group" just to be polite before the whole group disappears again. social interaction is replaced by general chat spam and bickering with very occasional people offering real help to newer players.

IMO large scale raid was the gravity that drew everyone together to work as a whole. raid was what MADE the MMO experience worth having... otherwise, mass effect series or dragon age origins offered much better gameplay and alot less bugs if you wanted to play a single player game... as much as i hate to say it, but grinding also served a big purpose in bringing people together in a MMO. it's the shared experience of hours upon hours of mindless grinding that made raiding that much more precious. it's the dues you pay for the ability to raid. I guess you need the counter weight in the system to provide the greater reward of the raids.

anyway. it's unfortunate that newer generation gamers will never get to experience that level of gaming since we wont see another MMO with large scale raiding again.

Nice to see so many former players. I actually got conned into playing EQ. There were some guys at work that played and they recruited me. Told me if I liked Legend of Zelda I'd like this (of course I liked Zelda, have to be a commi not to!) so I went by the store after work and picked it up. My fairly new computer at the time didnt meet the recommended specs so I bought a new video card and some more memory too. $400 later, I was loading up the game lol. I'd decided that a wizard would be cool and the DEs seemed to have the most complimentary racial stats best I could tell. Boy, I hated this game so much! I was getting motion sickness running around a dark city with fluorescent graffiti all over the place. I kept seeing people in chat telling other new players to run to the newb log but I couldnt find such place. In fact, I couldnt find a way out of Neriak period. After a couple of hours running around looking for an exit, checking out what NPCs had to say, and getting frustrated, I logged off for the night. Back at work, I cursed my buddies for conning me into playing this retarded game but I tried it out again the next night. I stumbled across my trainer and picked up a spell or two. I wasnt exactly sure what to do with them and inadvertently nuked one of the guards. Low and behold, I was outside! I gave up on the Wizard an Enchanter. Stuck with that until Luclin came out and switched over to a BeastLord which became my favorite class of all time for any game.

Anyways, for the old EQ fans, what are you playing now? Has anything kept your interest? I'm really liking TSW but we need some content and the future is shaky.
