totalbiscut explains it perfectly.
Perhpase you should watch the content patch more often.

1. It's not anti-consumer as much as people like to think. It's them protecting their intellectual property by not allowing other to profit from it's use. Not cool? sure, but not anti-consumer.
2. People who are full-time streamers/youtubers play tons of games, skipping a great game just because you can't earn money from it, is effing stupid imo and sounds whiny as all hell.

And no, sometimes I agree with TB, but a lot of times, he's just a cynical A-hat. Perhaps you should read news more often, they went and reversed the policy for people who are partnered streamers/youtubers.

I would've thought covering a game title and NOT getting paid for doing so would speak volumes of the type of person they are and the passion they have for doing what they do... which no doubt would lead to even more paid opportunities later on down the road

What would look more appealing to a developer; seeing a paid reviewer jump and scream about a new title because their income is dependent on it, or seeing a unpaid reviewer do the same because they love the game? smile.gif

and just to add, my above statement about 'what is more appealing' doesn't just apply to the game developers wanting quality reviews, but also to the channel subscribers who are looking for unbiased reviews of games they might be considering buying. If the reviewer is unpaid and raving about a game, as a subscriber I'd be more be inclined to pay for a game... providing I knew that reviewer isn't just some random 13y/old haha (which obviously a established, typically-paid-but-not-this-time reviewer would be)

Reviewers is one thing, people who stream/youtube full time as their job is another. If you stream/youtube as your job, you clearly play a ton of games, or you focus on one or two. That's fine, but just outright saying 'eff this game' because you can't profit from it, is really stupid. Whatever happened to playing games because you like games? When did games turn into "I have to make money on this or I ignore it." ?

It's an interesting point for sure.

Back on topic, I recently hung up my SWToR account after 18+ months of PvP in that game. They just recently developed arenas for the game, but EA took away our Oceanic-based servers a couple of months ago which made high level PvP kind of awful (5ms ping back up to 180ms ping). A lot of my friends are looking forward to attempting Wildstar and the FF relaunch (Wildstar for it's promised PvP features, FF relaunch for it's lower latency to Japanese servers)

Curious to hear peoples opinions of ESO? As a PvPer, the idea of hack-n-slash PvP sounds kind of terrible hahah...

Yeah...I'm waiting to hear more about ESO as well. Skyrim rocks and if they keep faithful I'll jump on the wagon as soon as launch.
