Thread Starter
i have decided to go intel this year with my tax refund im getting a i7 3770k so that i can overclock it if necessary in the future and need suggestions on a good stable z77 board that will do some stable overclocking and have longevity and not die on my after a few months and i would like to keep it under the $200 price point or lower i have read several reviews for boards on the internet and on newegg and some of the ones i like seem to have bad raps.

some of the ones i have read up about, all seem like top tier boards but i need help deciding basically

MSI bigbang z77

Gigabyte UD5H is the one I would recommend out of those 4, V-Pro if you are willing to trade audio (ALC892 instead of ALC 898 for Mpower/UD5H) performance for better chassis fan control, UD3H if you are looking to save a few bucks and get the same OC performance.

Bios wise they are all good(I prefer Gigabyte/ASUS bios though), with MSI boards you can't offset OC so your CPU will be running at full Vcore all the time.

VRM wise the Gigabyte and ASUS boards have digital VRM which is better than MSI's analog VRM.

These are all very solid overclocking board so OC stablity will be the least of your worries, but if I were you I get the digital VRM and Offset OC ability.

Feature wise V-Pro give you the best control for case fans if you plug them into the mobo, UD5H/Mpower have ALC 898 audio chip which is better than UD3H's Via chip and V-pro's ALC 892, UD5H have 2 Ethernet ports, all other have 1.

I wouldn't recommend an EVGA motherboard as their motherboard Bios team have been pretty bad, they haven't been the same after losing a good portion of their mobo team to another motherboard maker.

You can't go wrong with either UD5H or V-pro as they have good VRM and good Bio options for overclocking, I recommend the UD5H only because it is cheaper and have better audio.

You will enjoy it for sure, here is a performance review done by OCN's resident Gigabyte motherboard guru Sin0822, feel free to PM him any question you have regarding this mobo and you can post at the UD5H owner club to get help/advice from fellow UD5H users here on OCN..
