i just inserted the cd that came with the monitor, however they are all drivers for Nvidia cards? :/

Driver for the screen itself, not the video card

You might need to set up a custom resolution. Its not hard to do if you're willing to do a little registry edit.

you shouldn't need to add a custom resolution.
install your monitor drivers as it's being recognized as 'Generic' with the basic windows drivers installed.

I changed it to 144hz via CCC without issues.

Hi guys,

So I've tried, drivers, reformatting and everything else and still no luck. Just don't understand why it works with no problems on my miss; computer and not mine. Do the MSI Lightning 7970's I have not support 144hz or something? I'm out of idea on what to do now but to sell my cards lol which I really cannot be bothered doing...

Thanks for your suggestions so far though smile.gif

I think for the lightning you'll need to use the display port for 120Hz and above.

mate thanks so much for your help. Finally got it sorted out. Involved me buying a mini display port to dual link active adaptor from the apple store.
The screen is now set to 144hz.

Kind of dissapointed how the lightnings only come with dual single link dvi's. But then again there are 4 mini display ports pretty much capable of anything

Thanks everyone for the help ! to bad the repping system isnt in place.

Cheers, Gliggo.

I'm glad it's finally sorted out. Yep, dumb about paying more just to have the 144Hz thing going.mad.gif

It was a great idea, I was suffered with same problem, while the new cable was left in monitor's box, trying the old one. Replace it, problem solved, it works on 144Hz, well!
Thanks again!

At 1080p 144hz should work out of the box, at 1440p you may have to patch your drivers using ToastyX's patch. But i was able to hit 144hz at 1440p with my 7970 and 290X (screen had lots of artifacts - but that was cause of my monitor most likely).
