I want to upgrade my cooling and been trying to read up about closed loop vs Air. I would like to stay air for the time being, so here are my questions (my build info is in my sig). I have read a review of fans with noise vs cooling and still cant decide what to use/do.
1: Would 2 fans on my mega cool better, like I had one pushing the other pulling the heat?
1b: If I use two fans can I use quieter fans with lower CFM the my Scythe S-flex SFF21G(75 CFM, 35Dba)
2:What fans would you recommend I use to cool my case and CPU? I also use the lamptron FC2 fan controller with 6 controls.
2b: Would any one recommend a better fan controller then the Lamptron FC2, some times the fans it controls while or maybe it whines just wears on the ears.
Also I am looking to replace my v9 BE case, just has been banged up some and not sealing like it used to, could any one recommend a case under $150 which has good air flow. I would like a mid tower case, and some thing that doesnt look too gamey. I have asked in the case mod forums and only received 3 answers. I am not big on windows or lights, so simple is better. As an Idea of what I like I am looking at the scout 2, c70, and the Storm Sniper. The HAF all seem too big and the not sleek looking.
THanks for any and all the help, hope you dont mind me jumping in on this thread
I can't handle all of those questions, but I will take a few.
1. It would help marginally. Like a few degrees at most. The quality of fans probably would help you more.
1b. Of course. I recommend that they be matching fans though. And that they be PWM.
2. I recommend cougar fans. They are very well built and can be mounted in any position other than blowing up. I currently have THIS
cougar as my top intake fan. It is pretty quiet and has great airflow. I also recommend THESE
phanteks fans. Also very well built.
2b. I have no idea
As for a case: There are many good choices out there, so its very subjective to your own needs/likes. Give this THREAD
a read. It really has some good ideas about air cooling. They are a little unconventional but are highly useful. I am now employing some of the techniques that I learned here.
Here are a few cases that I picked based on your criteria and what I have learned about air cooling. LINK
