This is what you get when you put your H2O cooled rig out in the balcony!

A few month ago I had my i7-920 and GTX 480 SLI in my living room. My AC was always on so I decided to put my rig (in sig) outside on the balcony.

I know some people will give me hell about this but, I don't care. Its there and it will be staying there.

It is protected from the rain and there is no way it will ever get wet even if it rains sideways!

After moving the rig outside my electric bill went down!!!!

My wife was very happy because it was no longer an oven in my living room! And I was loving my temps.

Anyhow, both my GPU's and CPU are not the coolest components but, that is not really a problem.

Enough talking.

CPU Load. 4.2 Ghz @ 1.3 volts set in bios. I can push the GPU to 4.5 Ghz but, I don't really need it

that is prime 95 for about 10 min 55 C max

GPU have modded bios. They run 1.1 v stock. idle at 22 C and 21 C

Furmark GPU's at 1.163 volts 895 mhz core and 2250 mhz memory. Temps 42 C and 36 C.

At night temps are better. These were taking about noon.

Here it is outside

What's your ambient (a.k.a. your temps outdoors)?

Good for you, of course putting your case outside is going to give your AC a break. thumb.gif

I have not idea. Supposedly it is 54 F according to the internet. I dont have anything to take a proper reading

My biggest worry with putting my case outside would be dust and other bad particles. When indoors you just need dust filters on the intakes. With outdoors there can be wind blowing nasty dirty into any opening at all.

Yes I thought about this. I have filters everywhere. I do clean it every 1-2 weeks and actually I don't really get lots of dust. Now If I were to clean it every few months, yes it would be a problems

Oh yeah my tower sits on top of a 12" car speaker box so its elevated about 18" from the floor. The way it is position the wind can't directly hit it. Of course being outside its bound to get dust in it but, I tried to minimize that plus cleaning the rig is a big part of not letting dust accumulate.

Oh yes, I live on the second floor and a big tree is next to my balcony so that helps blocking some of the elements!

Oh that reminds me, this could just be the area I live in but in the Spring, Summer we have horrible TREE DUST!! It gets all over the cars and patio furniture, grill, etc... It's easy enough to hose off, but it's a little sticky so can be really annoying.
