Nvidia 9600GT sound issue

Thread Starter
I have recently had to change out my radeon 4870 with my 9600 GT. the radeon died on me. I cleaned the drivers and installed fresh nvidia ones. My issue is i am using a DVI to HDMI cable to connect to my LG tv. Nvidia drivers are seeing it as HDMI only and is forcing sound to go through my video card, which won't work for obvious reasons. I use the onboard audio to send sound to the TV into its DVI audio input.. It used to work fine with the ATI card, This Nvidia one is giving me a headache. I have tried to turn off the audio to the card in the nvidia control panel, but it still does not work. Any help to get this working again would be appreciated.

Did you try connecting a SPDIF cable connected from the gpu to the motherboard?

Or if your right click on your speaker and choose playback devices is the speakers selected as default?

Yes you do. Here is a link to the manual for the motherboard in your ga-ma790x-ud4p

Look at page 7 its to the left of your pcie lanes. There is a spdif out and in. You should hook the out to your gpu. You most likely will have to buy the spdif cable I dont think I ever got one with my gpu but I cant remember.

I see an optical spdif out on the back panel which wont work. I know hooking the gpu to onboard spdif would fix your issue. Since your mb most likely doesnt have it I dont know what to tell you. Except for going through the settings and trying to figure it out which is what you been doing.

I read some where there was a way to force the driver to recognize it as an LCD monitor as opposed to HDTV. I have been failing to do that however lol.
