February 2013 Foldathon (18th-20th) - Page 4

When I was in a comp with Laundromatic I ran the single 6870 and nothing else. When in the Foldathons I run with CF enabled as they download their own individual WU's and do SMP 2 IIRC. The 6870's get me roughly 7200 ppd on the 13.1 Catalyst drivers without the newest SDK. Wednesday I should have the card and be able to install it. First thing is to find the best drivers to use with the GT 430 and then follow the above instructions.

I just happened to see this from bruce on FF today. Might be of some use for you.

Subject: F@H not running on GPUs

Then, and only then, do I put both GPUs in the system and connect a monitor to one of them (or a 3rd GPU).

I'll know more come Wednesday. But I'll go ahead and get those 306 drivers ahead of time. Thanks

So I installed the GT 430, no issues really. Just want to know if this looks right though?

You should be able to resume your CPU on 2 threads, becuase if your AMD GPUs were getting enough CPU time before the 430 then installing the 430 is unlikely to have changed that. Other than that everything looks a okay to me.

I was thinking that the TPF was high and the PPD is way low. I have no clue. Maybe a different set of drivers? I installed the 310.89's

I don't know exactly what you should be getting, but 430 aint a fast card dude.

Actually I just looked at the GPU PPD database which is outdated but still gives us an estimate and that is exactly what 430s there were getting too.

That works for me! I can leave SMP off to increase the PPD on the other two AMD GPU's along with this card.

Like I said you shouldn't have to. If two free threads was enough for both your AMD cards, then it should be enough for both AMD cards and the 430.
