A 7870 would be a great upgrade for your system after you give a nice overclock. thumb.gif

to what like a 2500K or 3570K and can that improve frames?

An Ivy Bridge i3 isn't bottlenecking you in BF3. I'd grab a GTX 660 or a 7870. That will give you the best performance increase for the price.

Not really, the i3 3220 is a pretty decent chip for gaming. Depends on the games you play, but its right up there with AMD Piledriver FX 8 core and 6 core CPUs

If BF3 is the reason for this upgrade, the i3 will definitely not bottleneck you. Check out this benchmark...

If you can get a 670 that would allow you to max the game or come close depending on your resolution. At 1080p I run my stock 670FTW at Ultra with 2xAA, average FPS about 75, minimum in high 40s/low 50s. With a moderate OC I can bump it up to 4xAA and it never goes below 55 or so tongue.gif

Good luck on the upgrade smile.gif
