1090T won't even get to 4GHz with 1.55v and Sabertooth 990FX

Hello. I would like some help with overclocking my AMD X6 1090T. I am using an ASUS Sabertooth 990FX motherboard that should be more than capable for overclocking. I'm using a CM Hyper 212 Plus cooler in a CM HAF X case, so cooling shouldn't be the issue. I've fiddled around with settings for months. I've never had good luck with overclocking, ever since the days I built my first computer with an X4 640 in 2010 that would be overclocked by only .14GHz and hang. I normally run it 24/7 at 3.8GHz with turbo disabled fine, but now I'm running it at 3.3GHz with a 3.6GHz turbo.

i feel for you... i am stuck on 3.8Ghz too... the strange thing was i was at 3.96Ghz for a very long time then one day became very unstable... i downclocked to 3.8Ghz and now i am stable again.

Have you tried increasing the cpu-nb frequency and voltage? Sometimes it will help with stability on thuban overclocks.

Max safe voltage for cpu-nb is 1.4v
i'd try 2600mhz @ 1.35 to get it started, go with that setting+4.0ghz at 1.45v if you not stable and can keep core temps under 62c, feel free to push the voltage up increment by increment.

Max safe recommended voltage on thuban for cores is 1.475v.

Also using fsb to overclock instead of multiplier can sometimes have an good effect on overclock performance, perhaps give that a try as well.

Best of luck and let me know how it goes.

PS be very cautious not to increase the NORTHBRIDGE voltage to anywhere near 1.4v, that will fry the motherboard more then likely. Be sure what your increasing is cpu-nb or some other variation of that.

After a few tries, I got it to pass the POST and boot into Windows! The CPU voltage is 1.45v and the CPU-NB is 1.31v. Is this good? It scared me because the CPU-NB number turned a scary purple when I entered 1.31 volts. Also, is increasing the HT Link Speed to the maximum safe and will it make a difference? The BIOS says it will run at the speed if it is lower than or equal to the system clock as long as the board is capable.

As long as temps are good, the cpu-nb is generally accepted as being safe up to 1.4v

I think they're good enough. Right now, I'm idling at 35C on the CPU and 25C on the mainboard.
