Looking to improve my OC maybe 5.0ghz Any suggestions?

Hello all.

I have recently tweaked my OC at 4.7 ghz. I was plagued by the Asus Cold boot. After countless times trying to remedy this (it was annoying me having to reboot all the time) I think I have finally fixed it, I tried a variety of different things but *seems* to have done it is changing my PLL Voltage from 1.8v down to 1.525v.

Previously when it was cold and I would start my computer it would try to post, then turn itself off then reboot and try to get into windows but it would hang at the windows login screen until I manually restarted and booted in.

Anyway, dropping the PLL seems to have cured it, also it has enabled me to drop my vcore slightly. My temps have gone from 72C prime95 to 64c!! I couldnt believe how much they dropped.

Ill link my OC below, its 12 hours prime stable, 20 pass itb and linx so its rock solid right now. I was just looking to maybe increase it. 4.8/4.9/5.0. For no other reason apart from that I enjoy it smile.gif

My comp is
P8z68-v Pro/gen3
i7 2600k 4.7ghz
G Skill 1866mhz Ram 8/9/9/24/2T (Currently I have it clocked at 2133Mhz 11/11/11/27/1T)

Any tips, help or criticism appreciated.

Thank you.

You are just going to have to change the multipler and play with the voltage and see how far you can take it. Sometimes overclocks just hit a wall, and aren't possible. Other times you have a silicon warrior. I can sit a 4.8 @ 1.45v all day long 12 hour prime stable and multiple IBT max runs, but I can't get it IBT, LinX, or Prime95 stable over that (constantly gives me 101 error for more VCORE even @ 1.5+ volts). I can bench over 4.8 but I'm just not stress test stable over 4.8. So, it's more or less something you are going to have to play with to see if it's possible.

I shall get working on it right away. I think ill have to up the CPU current capability to 130 and Phase control and thermal balence to Extreme. Any recommendations?

Slowly increase the VCORE, see if you can pass stress tests. thumb.gif Use the Sandy/Ivy Overclocking Guide for the BSOD code list to determine what might be causing a possible BSOD during stress tests.
