Now I know this is a pretty extreme build, and it'll cost me around 4.5k including postage + assembly, but I just have a few general questions.

1. Overall thoughts and recommendations on my parts list.?

2. Are there any parts you think I should swap/downgrade/reconsider/..etc..?

3. I'm not too sure about the ASUS Rampage IV extreme as my motherboard. What does everyone think of it.?

4. Is it all compatible with one another.? (I believe it is but I may have missed something slight..)

5. I'll be choosing to have PCCG assemble it all for me, including water cooler. Has anyone had past experience with this PCCG service.? Thoughts.?

I think that's about it for now. Thank you to everyone in advance thumb.gif

I'm from Australia - Brisbane, so it's not exactly the best place to get cheap computer parts from.

I intend to use it with a tri-monitor set up (I multi-task ALOT) mostly for top end gaming, video and image processing and editing, general all purpose, and probably will choose to overclock it eventually.

I know I may have gone a little extreme with some components but I'm hoping to have this for quite a few years before having to upgrade again.

IMO you should get Samsung ram b/c it overclocks so well. Also I would definitely get a video card with a aftermarket cooling solution and not the reference design. Much better temps and noise if you get a card with two or three fans. Other than that it looks great! thumb.gif

1. Seems to be a pretty spectacular build, should run awesome

2. I would personally go with Western Digital drives (bad experience with seagate) but thats just me.

3. The RIVE seems to be the defacto high end x79 board, you cant go wrong with it.

4. The only thing I could see that might have issues is the ram but the board should support up to 2400mhz ram so barring any quirks seems to be ok

5. never had any experience with them, but its always cheaper to build yourself, watch a few videos on youtube and ask some questions here and im sure youd be able to do it yourself with confidence, and save yourself a few bucks

good luck with this awesome build.

i would go with the reference if you plan on going custom water in the future but if you dont then i agree with OcN13 a card with a custom cooler will get better temps that a stock.

Wait 3 weeks and get the H220 when its released over the H100i. It beats corsairs by volume and performance.

Why the SSDs in raid 1? Wouldn't the performance boost of raid 0 be preferable to a 240gig mirror?

My question is why all of this power of x79 over z77? You don't have massive gfx cards, so I don't see workstation render or anything like that. I don't see any reason to fork over the extra for the hexacore and RIVE, when you aren't utilizing the extras which are driving up the cost. That being said, its a great selection of parts. You likely won't get much higher than 2133 on SB-E though, as there is no strap higher than that for memory.

I would ditch the case, the burner and a sound card, and go for WD drive. And buy some cheaper case with a built in analog fan controller, like an original NZXT Phantom for example if you can find one of course.

Looks good. Though I don't see any reason to get Windows Professional instead of Home Premium. The Rampage IV motherboard is pointlessly expensive, especially given that unlike most Rampage boards it doesn't come with a better-than-realtek onboard soundcard and you're only getting one video card.

What type of video card would you recommend.?

Do you know how much the H220 will be on release.?

Do you think it's worth it NOT having the backup.?

What MB would you suggest instead of the RIVE.? Would you still say that if I was to get something like SLI gtx 670 (2gb)s instead of the gtx680 (4gb).?

Why ditch the case.? (apart from the price comparison..)

coming from someone with a cosmos 2, there are better cases for the money, especially for water cooling. I like my cosmos 2, but if i could have gone back, i would have spent my $350 on something else.

Its not nearly as good of a case as the price might suggest. Its just not worth the value. Save yourself $250 or whatever and put that money elsewhere.
