[Build Log] The Acrylic Dragon - Page 2

Update:

So.. while im pretty satisfied with the overall performance of the W/C system, I noticed that not much air goes through the big black ice GTX 280 (2*140) 55mm thick 20 FPI, it seams I cant get any good high pressure 140mm fans frown.gif so I'm "upgrading" to GTS 240 (2*120mm) 30mm thick 30fpi and shifting my noisy "BitFenix Spectre PRO LED 140mm" with "Noctua NF-F12 PWM - 120mm"
Hoping for better flow through the radiators + less noise smile.gif
I also ordered a 200mm fan for the top, just to see if I would gain any drop in temps..

I want my case / cooling system to be ready for my new PC build ;D

If you can fit a 38mm fan you can try this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835220056&nm_mc=OTC-pr1c3grabb3r&cm_mmc=OTC-pr1c3grabb3r-_-Case+Fans-_-Silverstone-_-35220056

So I ordered:

1 x HW-Labs Black Ice - GTS 240 - Black
3 x Noctua NF-F12 PWM - 120mm
1 x BitFenix Spectre PRO 200mm

hoping I will get better flow through the radiator --> better temperatures and a over all more silent rig
added the 200mm fan to bring down the case temps (witch is pretty high atm due to both radiators venting inwards)

Sweeeet!!

The Noctua NF-F12 120mm's are AWESOME! dead silent at 900rpm and acceptable at 1400rpm (I got controller) and the new radiator has way more air coming through it smile.gif
Even though it is SO much smaller than the 280 GTX, I still get a much better temp read biggrin.gif I don't know if this is due to: reseat of CPU block, better / stronger fans or thinner rad? also I changed from premix clear UV liquid (witch formed some particles in the water after a few months) to distilled water + adjectives.

Better temps (around 10-15 degree drop from old fans / rad) with 100% load prime95: 900 rpm: 46 degrees. 1400 rpm: 40 degree
WAY lower noise level !!

Little side story tongue.gif
my PC wouldn't boot after the changes frown.gif Turned out I had a bent CPU pin ! :O
When I tried to get it back in shape it looked / felt like it snapped! but turned out it just got pushed back into position ^_^
IMO it some how got stock to the CPU at some point and got pulled out of its thing, after a TIM renewal, coursing it to short-circuit with one of the other pins.. scary stuff!
But hey, no harm done smile.gif

All in all, a good day.

*edit*
Oh yea.. I also found a minor leak on a kinked tube (yes.. kinked AND leaking) - all fixed

Looks good! How much did you put into this bad boy?

Update:
temps after new fans and rad:

2.4Ghz@3.0
Idle 25-27 degrees
6h run Prime95
900 rpm: 51 degrees
1400 rpm: 45 degrees

at 900 rpm, the build is dead silent! and not too noisy at 1400 either ^^

Uff..Never did the maths smile.gif
Lets see. For the cabinet and all the W/C + the changes/upgrades .. probably around 900-1000$

Seams like a lot, but its worth every penny thumb.gif
All set for my new haswell build ; )

*Edit*
I cancelled my order 4 times before finding a shop that HAD the items in stock, and not just list as stock and then "oh woops.. we dont have that in stock before next week or something" Screw that!
