[Build Log] The Acrylic Dragon - Page 17

Damn that's a shame. Some of those pics look friggin incredible. How are you putting those pics together like that? And also, i'm gonna need you to teach me this vinyl printing lol. Between your Backplate and now these Apogee Tops, you've got me real interested in using that for modding.

Anyway, my favorites are all the ones between these 2

Plus this one

If it's just those little button head screws that are the problem, maybe some nylon washers might help?

I bought THIS 50pk for 5 bux and i'm almost out of them and gonna order some more. They come in much handier than i expected. Real useful when you need a spacer that prevents metal on metal contact

Or some red glass washers like the ones that come in mobo standoff kits could work too, since the red will match your vinyl

Pity the vinyl didn't work. I guess paint brush is your only option if you want the same patterns.

edit: I like this one

Nice build man. I like how clean it looked in the end. I am currently upgrading mine over the next couple of weeks.

Thx guys smile.gif

I was gonna use that layout, but kinda lost the picture after a GIMP crash.. and also, the vinyl tearing..

@kpoeticg
I simply cut out the entire "cross bracket" in GIMP and put different patterns / images behind the CPU block, so it would only show in the cross bracket section.
Simple stuff smile.gif

The washer idea aint half bad! but it is hard to realize how thin the vinyl is looking at my pics. Some/ most places, It is no more than 6mm wide.
Thats why it twirls up when tightening the screws, and im kinda sceptic it will hold, even with washers.. you need to tighten those 8 screws incredible tight!

Not much to teach you about vinyl printing smile.gif You just put a sheet in the printer and print as you would a normal piece of paper.. (with quality settings at max ofc,)
Also aim for a high DPI.. between 200-300 DPI seams to make some really detailed pictures! thumb.gif

THIS is what I use.
tecco self adhesive glossy vinyl sheets in A4 format.
around 50 dollars for 50 sheets where I bout it.

Anywho.. the system is back up and healthy.. smile.gif
I probably wont do the CPU block styling before I got some other mods to start up smile.gif maybe sleeving ? tongue.gif

oh if you gonna sleeve the AX760 let me know how it goes!

Do it... sleeving a fun project. Just make sure you wear gloves. After sleeing my 750G Supernova my fingertips were numb and all tingly for 2 weeks. Maybe it was just the paracord, but lesson learned lol.

Thanks for all the good suggestions!
The project has been dubbed "The Acrylic Dragon" smile.gif
maybe a bit boring, but still better than "Haswell in XB" lol tongue.gif

welshy46
Sure tongue.gif I have been using it for about 9 months now wink.gif F@H, HTPC, Editing and loads of gaming, including AC4BF and BF4..
After I got acrylic installed, everything ran fine for 2 days, untill something got stuck in the pump.. but everything is back up and running again thumb.gif
Silent and cool!

Right now, I seam to have some problems though :S had a few BSOD the last couple of days :S
I cant seam to replicate the crash in stress tests (Prime95 and IBT) but while gaming BF4, it has happend 2-3 times the last 3-4 days..
It is probably a driver problem or game problem.. I doubt its the PC.. why would it start acting up all of a sudden?
Will need some more testing so I can narrow it down.
