By "for PC" does that mean emulation considered? You're looking for Strategy RPGs?

Closest thing that reminds me of Fire Emblem are Shining Force 1 and 2 for Sega Genesis, should be able to emulate that on an Iphone/Android. Also there is Tactics Ogre for SNES/PS1/PSP/GBA. The SNES/PS1/PSP version are similar, but the GBA one is different.

Try the new XCOM. It's like a modern version of fire emblem with guns instead of swords. It even has the same perma-death mechanic.

Apparently they got Shining Force II for sale on Steam if you don't want to mess around with emulation.

I think Shining Force 1 is on there too.

Or, here is a genesis emulator for PC:

Genesis emulator for Iphone:

If it's tactics rpg that you want, I can't recommend Shining Force 2 enough. It's widely considered superior to Fire Emblem for good reason. You'd probably also like Langrisser 2 on Genesis.

Honestly I don't like the Fire Emblem games that much, and think they are massively overrated. They're not bad games, I just don't agree with the 9.0 ratings they get. They're more of a 7.5/10 for me. I definitely think Shining Force II is better.

+1 for XCOM: Enemy Unknown. I just played the demo recently, and was very much reminded of Fire Emblem. Sure, it's not exactly FE, but it's a very welcome variant on that sort of formula.

Also, Skulls of the Shogun is available for Xbox, Windows Phone, and Windows 8 (as a Store app) if you have any of those. It was unfortunately grabbed as an OS-exclusive, like Halo 2 and Vista.

I definitely won't argue with you. I feel the same way, although that's not to say Fire Emblem isn't a fun game nor that it isn't a far cry better than a lot of what is released today.

I am going to take a wild guess here, but the un-expected success of XCOM is going to give the Strategy:RPG a huge re-birth.

They are already making a much better funded XCOM sequel, and I would assume many other game developers will jump on the SRPG wagon.

They just need to start porting the Fire Emblem games to PC/Consoles maybe even tablets. They could make so much money porting Fire Emblem games 1-2 years after their handheld release.
