This is true, the one microsoft store near me, which is in the pricey part of town where it's common to see range rovers and benz rollin down the road, they only got like 2 of em, so it's obvious why they sold out. Would love to see how it actually would have done at launch had it been readily available. I know a few I.T. people that want them (idk if they have changed their minds based on ubuntu coming to android phones or not).

Again, if it sold well. MS would not hesitate to throw actual or ballpark figures at us. Sold out of 1-2 units at the various locations that actually have stock of this...do they want a cookie or something? Not to mention what is right around the corner, next generation of phones and tablets will most likely be announced in the next month or two.

Has anyone actually seen someone using a surface tablet? I remember when I was at the eaton center in Toronto, MS had a tiny booth the size of those Virgin mobile kiosks in malls at the bottom floor, there were about 40 people around there max. Apple store upstairs was of course packed. Not good ms, not good.

Only one I have seen in use was the one the guy who was demoing on it outside the microsoft store acting like iPads can't check the weather.

just to chime in real quick, but smart phones in usa don't have a built in radio transmitter, which is one hardware feature an ipod has over the phone.

After all, 2001/2002 they showed off this idea and now 10-11years later they're not "near perfect" with it? Either way, hope they make it to v2.0 and more OEMs actually attempt to make something like the Transformer or this.

Not really, Windows 8 works flawless on the Surface.

I see SP as more of a concept, and i'm sure MS and other firms will improve upon and perfect it.

Full size laptops are really only useful for gaming, I have a fullsize HP laptop and don't really carry it around anymore. It's pretty much unusable on charge, it HAS to be plugged in. It doesn't even get a third of the 5-7 hours an ultrabook gets.

That's why we still have OEMs offering different choices.
