So please tell me if there is a big mistake below and offer any advice on building (my first time) and basic set up mistakes to avoid ... also is the thermal compound that comes with H80i fine to use?

Bought at Microcenter:

MSI HD7950OC TF3 3GB PCIE3 309.99

INTEL BOX INTEL CORE I7-3770K 229.99

MSI Z77A-GD65 1155 ATX 164.99

ANTEC HCG 620W MOD 80+B ATX PSU 95.99

CORSAIR HYDRO H80I LIQUID COOLER 99.99

SAMSUNG E 256GB SSD 840 PRO2.5SATA3 204.99

SEAGATE 2TB 3.5 7200RPM INT SATA 99.99

SAMSUNG E 8GB 2X4 D3 1600 DIMM KIT 47.99

MS OEM WIN7 PRO 64BIT SP1 OEM 129.99

ASUS 23.6" LED VE247H MONITOR 169.99

COOLMAST HAF XM MIDTWR ATX CASE 119.99

Excited to build it, hesitant to mess something up ... appreciate the comments from last week that prompted me to change out some gear ... my biggest concern now is 620watts good enough since i upgraded graphics and proc and the h80i stock thermal paste - no reviews mentioned not to use it ...

Think this link is right ... realize some of my prices i paid are too much but microcenter said they would match new egg - guess i need to print out and go back ...

Looks like a great build to me! And yes the compound is fine to use.

I'd go with a better power supply, but that's just me. Besides that, it looks solid. I'd look into a quality 600 watt PSU from Silverstone or Corsair if you want. It's not that the GS series is bad, but you can do better without spending that much more money.

I purchased the same monitor you did (VE247H) and had some pretty bad ghosting issues. However, I took it back and bought the VE248H and have had none. Just a heads up thumb.gif

Ditch the MSI board for Gigabyte Z77X-UD3H or ASRock Extreme6. Ditch the Antec PSU for Rosewill Capstone. Ditch 840 Pro for Intel 335 Series.

Just saved you decent amount of money for equal or greater quality stuff.

Thank you all for the suggestions!

I still have about $50 dollars or so to realize in savings with rebates and think I will stick with items already on hand for two reasons:

1. Some I cant get from microcenter - order online.
2. Another trip to microcenter will be 2-3 hours in great VA traffic and gas.

Both of those dont seem to outweigh the value Im missing from the list ... unless Im not reading your suggestions correctly.

Also saw this for the PSU: http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/Antec-High-Current-Gamer-M-620-W-Power-Supply-Review/1495/10

I will have to keep an eye on monitor - will be first rig that maybe I can see what ghosting is on ...

Will start building later this afternoon ... provided I dont see a stop now - get rid of that component post )

What is there to not understand about the suggestions? The ASRock or Gigabyte board is better than the MSI Board. The Antec PSU is sub-par quality. Rosewill Capstones is heaps better. The 840 Pro is an awesome SSD, but it's overpriced. The 335 Series is just as fast for much less.
