They showed a MARS III at CES last year but I don't think it ever got released. Speaking from experience here, I sent back two MARS II's because they were faulty. Sure they look really impressive but when you actually take a look at one in the flesh, the manufacturing is not that high quality, its just eye candy. Here's a video I posted on YouTube after the second one I got had loose pieces of the aluminium shroud interfering with the fan.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hdC1P-iac8k The first had a similar issue but it was the fins on the heatsink that were touching the fan, sounded like a damn $1800 whipper snipper. I've had people say to me it must have been a bad batch, but the problem with that is I first got card #19 then 989, so I've got two cards both faulty at both ends of the manufacturing cycle.

Asus was saying that the Mars 3 is an example is what they're able to produce, so it was just a hoax and they made the ares 2 instead.

1st run ARES II stock settings with new 3D Mark Advanced-Fire Strike Extreme: http://www.3dmark.com/fs/189979
Best run EVGA GTX 680 SLi OC'd same test: http://www.3dmark.com/fs/185263
ARES II win by 959 points. smile.gif
No doubt whatsoever a pair of GTX Titans will stomp the crap out of the ARES II, but I'd of sworn it wasn't due until the end of the year. Not the next week!
NewEgg had some ASUS Titans but they're gone. Nvidia says they'll be released in small batches, not mass quantities.
It'll probably be quite a while before the MSI GTX Titan Lightning will be out, so I still have something to play with.
Hopefully with a name change. Titan Lightning just plain sucks.

2nd Run-ARES II OC'd- http://www.3dmark.com/fs/192080
Erased ASUS Tweak Utility (I never liked the program) and used MSI's Afterburner v2.3.1.
6999 on 3DMark-Fire Strike Extreme.
That's 1321 points over GTX 680 SLi. OC'd.
The scores in my last post and this one were after I deleted the original WHQL driver and then installed the latest approved Beta driver at FutureMark.
The score with the WHQL driver was around 3900. Close to half the scores using the Beta drivers.
I should've kept the score with the WHQL driver for comparison, but deleted it automatically.
Ran "Dead Island" for about 6 hours last night, without a hitch.
As I've said repeatedly in other posts, I'm no Nvidia fanboy. This should prove it.
NewEgg is now taking Pre-Orders for the ASUS Titan, to be received by them on 2/28/2013.
I'm still planning on waiting on an MSI Lightning or a dual-gpu card.
I love me a dual-gpu, single slot card!
I think I'll pull my EVGA GTX 690 out and try it against the ARES II this weekend.
Oh yeah, just remembered, tSgt, where's that 70C you mentioned? Check my score charts. I only see 50C. Maybe you should wait on some results before flaming?
I can't hear the rad fans, even with the side cover off, unless I put my ear next to it. Even then, it's just a quiet rush of air.
The only trouble I've had is the side panel of my Corsair 800D. I'm using this panel: http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=130_132_1015&products_id=32142 and the top fan can't be used because the ARES II radiator is in the way.
Since the side panel fans are 140mm, I can't put the rad there. My Corsair H100 is using the case top fan holes and the ARES II rad won't fit beside it since it's so large.
I have to go buy 4 short screws to hold the fan filter over the empty hole in the window. The fans and filters are held on with nuts and bolts. Regular fan screws would possibly crack the window.
I have some rubber plugs for the fans, but every time I used them they just pulled apart. They look simple enough to use, but I must be doing something wrong. Any advice on using them would be appreciated.

Received my Ares 2 last week. Should receive a new SSD tomorrow. I will post some benches when I get it up and running.
Question: Should I use Win7 or Win8. I here 3DMark11 scores are lower with Win8. Not sure if theres a difference with 3DMark fire strike? ?

I just ran across this Driver Uninstall tool from AMD: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/catalyst-uninstall-utility.aspx
Does it actually work? I've been away from AMD cards so long I may as well be considered a newbie as far as AMD is concerned.
