Just out of curiosity, what speed is your 8350 running at? Is the 970 Extreme 3 giving you any trouble overclocking?

Stock right now. Two reasons, my hyper 212+ evo isn't really up to par for it (and Florida isn't exactly cold, even in winter) - and the 970's vrm's get too hot too quick. I'm sure with cooling on the vrm's I could probably keep it @ 4.3-4.4ghz 24/7 stable, but not really woth the effort right now for the games I play.

I'd only recommend the 970 if you are going to try and overclock a 4300 or 6300 to be honest.

I'd still like to know what workloads the OP is using. Sure the 8320 will be a better CPU than the 8120. But if he's selling for $120 and buying for $179.99 plus taxes and shipping. So I'll guess around $200.

If your not actually hitting a CPU bottleneck or being held back by your 8120, you might want to use that money elsewhere. But, if you need an upgrade, then yes, the 8320 is a great CPU.

Knowing your workload and games/monitor res would be helpful though.

Thread Starter
I'm currently on a 1440p set-up, I have a 1080p coming, looking to use both monitors. I pay skyrim, bf3, and tried that new crysis which lags after msaa is at max.. I do video editing also. I overclock it to 3.4ghz running very cool with the h60 push and pull

If you want to overclock on a 970, the Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3, ASUS M5A97 EVO, and Biostar TA970XE are the ways to go. Everything else cuts corners on the voltage regulators. Otherwise, go 990FX.

no, it works out to be a minimal expense and who can hold off the upgrade itch for a year.?
anyways the FX-Piledriver is what the FX-Bulldozer should have been, kinda.. LoL..

Correct. Should have clarified, I mean the asrock 970 extreme series (3 or 4). I own the extreme 3 and overclocking is uhhh... weak, to say the least on this board. Don't get me wrong the options are there and it's a great board, but not if you want to push an FX-8.
