GK110 has been around for a while, it's not new. And it's not a new architecture. It's GK104 with more shaders and more memory bandwidth.

And look, I hate to be honest but in a strictly memory bandwidth limited situation, a 7970 Ghz edition is going to beat Titan. Those situations are rare, but they do exist and if someone had an agenda in a review they could easily make 7970 look better. I'm not buying this hype at all. If Titan costs more than GTX 690 it's going to be a complete disaster in where Nvidia offers less performance for more price.

Titan is just Nvidia blowing smoke because we're coming up on a year from GTX 680 release and there's no news about Maxell at all. The only news we have is Maxwell in 2014 on 20nm.

They may not have a choice. If the TDP is only 230-250 watts, then clocking the core at 915mhz may push the card over that limit. Remember, this is a very LARGE chip. At least with GK104, you're dealing with a smaller package.

The only reason to clock them that low is to keep it below a 690. If it was clocked as the 690 is I believe it would be faster then it.

Really, but really want this card, but logic tells me I don't need it just to play the same 2 games,
TF2 and B3... with lack of any kind of new games that makes everyone go wow, like when far cry
/half life 2/doom3/crysis etc. makes it hard to justify. maybe new consoles will make devs introduce
new engines, and new games that will give that "WOW" factor back to PC games, at this point the
only 2 games to look for is B4, maybe HL3 but who knows when that will be out.
( excluding those with need of raw power beyond 1920x1200 resolution)

If they plan to release a 3 GB counterpart @ $550 that will be awesome. 6 GB is way too overkill for most users and it significantly add to the cost.

Have you played FarCry3 or MaxPayne3? maxed out, it brought my 7970s to its knees @ 1080p!
We need a card like the Titan for these & upcoming titles if you want maximum eye candy.

I should remember I was the first to post about "the new 7.1 billion transistor" in may or late april.

Yes I know but the thing about teslas is that they're specially picked for that. The TDP doesn't really tell us about the power consumption either, it's most likely a lot lower on teslas because they want to keep the temps down to decrease failure rates and so on.

Even GF100 and GF110 (similarly sized chips as GK110) had tesla versions that were clocked way below of normal GeForce cards.

A consumer card being clocked on tesla levels just makes no sense unless they really want to fit this into a small power envelope, which again makes no sense.
