This would be a different story if the Titan came out later then the 780, but it's clearly showing Nvidia has the parts ready, available and again, is choosing to purposefully castrate the 780.

If all these rumors are true, then there is zero point in upgrading to a 780 for a 7970 or 680 owner at this point. It feels like 480 > 580 all over again, which was a joke since my 480 on a stock, reference blower cooler overclocked to performance faster than a 580.

It's like people are glad and more then willing to pay a ridiculous amount for performance that is a mediocre performance jump.

80% of the current gen dual setup is always where the next flagship should be, and last I checked in recent years flagships didn't cost more than a 690.

If I had the cash to throw around I'd buy two Titans, but then again they will probably be no GPU water block for something so limited release. I'm anxiously waiting to see if two Titans in SLI can push past PCI-E 2.0 @16x!

And....
Looks official.
So the GTX 690 with cherry-picked GK104 dies consumes 20% more power than the B-selection of GK110 dies at the same clocks? And the GK110 is 502mm^2 despite no other chip on 28nm has achieved transistor density that comes close to such a number?

If the TDP was 350W, I might have been inclined to believe those clocks, but even then it would imply that GK110 yields better than GK104 which is simply ridiculous.

Read the article. They claim to have one for review and that their results were about the same as the OBR ones, which were posted for reference in the article.

What I'm mad about is that back in the old days when there was a huge performance jump available it was released as mainstream, not for "enthusiasts" only at the price of one grand. It wasn't just about having equal performance to the competitor, it was about surpassing the last generation by as much as possible.

Look at the NVIDIA 8800GTX for example (not the Ultra). It was a huge performance jump from the 7800GTX (one 8800GTX was better than two 7800GTX IIRC, more than 100% faster) but still they let it out there, they didn't release a "just slightly better" GPU to sell their diamond at one grand. The 8800GTX Ultra was priced similarly to the Titan, but the cheaper non-Ultra cards had already had a huge performance jump so its price was justified. The GTX680 isn't anything special like an 8800GTX though, so the premium product (Titan) should take its place instead of being "enthusiast only".

So yeah, I'm not satisfied with NVIDIA offering medium-range GPUs for $500 even if they perform similarly to the competition, because the technology has to MOVE ON!

I hope when the whole Kepler thing is over (with or without a 700 series) that the 800 series Maxwell will go down in history like the good ol' 8800. NVIDIA should have learned the recipe by now. The 8800 will always be remembered as the most successful all-around GPU of all time. Why not repeat that?

PS - I would like to mention two more things:
1) Remember the 8800GT? Launched for $200-250 and performed about the same as the 8800GTX ($600). Best selling GPU and best bang for buck ever. Almost everybody had bought one.
2) An enthusiast only product shouldn't offer such a high performance jump. That's why I feel tricked by NVIDIA. If it performed 10-20% better than the GTX680 (just like the 8800 Ultra did to the 8800GTX) then I would say "OK".

This point I agree on. There are many FPS games that have controller players that beat the brakes off the kb/m players. Hell one of the guys I play with on steam can do this.

Anytime you want to participate in that beating send my your BF3 user id. Just because a study was done showing that most players using a 360 controller could not compete with KB/M users doesn't mean there aren't any players who can. I can and do it quite well. So again one of you haters need to bring up something that has nothing to do with this thread. So lets get it all out of the way. I use a xbox360 controller on my PC for all the games I play.

I buy all my computer hardware and then hand it over to a professional to install it or overclock it.

IOW: You lack the expertise to do this on your own.

I also hire a professional to maintain my hottub
.
A plumber? A pool guy making minimum wage?

I hire a video guy to come in and calibrate all the tvs in my home.

Can’t see clearly on your own? Lack the know-how to do this yourself?

I hired a landscaping company to take care of my home's lawn as well as my business. I just recently hired a contractor to build a fence around the back of my brand new 3600sq. ft. house.
So. Kids go door to door offering lawn mowing. A fence around your house is roughly $10k, so color me not impressed.

It really sucks having to have all these people work for me.

If you count those “professionals” as your workers, then that means that Taco Bell reports to me whenever I pull up to the drive through. And those “best buy caliber” pros that calibrate your TV have zero certifications, or a degree.

Ohh life is so bad with my crappy computer (which is twice as fast as yours btw)
You don’t have the fastest computer on this site. Do you see him in here telling you that you are less of a man than him?

That was a gift from somebody else, assuming you even have it, which I doubt. and xbox controller. I'll be back later I'm going to go watch the new Total Recall on my 50k home theater. Hope you enjoy your life as much as I do mine.

By 50k you more than likely mean 50 inch. Which you can get from places as poor as a rent a center.

If any of what you say is true (which I doubt), you were born into money and have not done a single thing to earn it yourself. You don’t even know how to configure your “own equipment”. That isn’t the character of an enthusiast, this is the little rich kid that doesn’t know how to change a flat tire. Or even attain any relevant certifications or probably even a degree, other than Leisure Studies or Basket Weaving.

Well, people who are either born in to it, or have it, don't tend to say things this gentleman (rcfc89) has been posting all over these forums. This is clearly an indication of an inferiority complex, not a superiority complex (and I am no psychologist). Belittling others, to make sure self look big, usually indicates low self esteem and lack of confidence. I wish this gentleman all the best, but these forums should not be a place for such incivility.
