Custom PC Power Up Issue -SOLVED-

Thread Starter
Hey guys,

So not sure if this is a issue or not but I have looked on the net all over and numerous reasons for this issue and I have check them all. But here is the symptom:

- From cold start, i depress power button on front panel
- PC starts up like normal for about 5 seconds and than shuts off for 3 second then it turns back on and proceeds with the normal boot up.

So things i have verified:

- PSU connected to the mobo all connectors properly seated
- all memory seated in
- CPU cooler running properly

I do not think this is a GPU issue because once it boots up all seems fine, and I have ran diagnostics on the GPU and Memory and it is responding properly.

SPECS:

CPU: Intel i5-2500K @ 4.6GHz
Mobo: Asus P8Z68-V LX
Memory: G.Skill DDR3 1600 (12800) CAS: 8
Cooler: Corsair H50
GPU: MSI N550GTX-TI 1GB Afterburner
PSU: 700W Cooler Master SIlent PRO
HDD:1 Velociraptor 500gb
SSD: 1 Samsung 830 128gb
OS: Win 7 64-Bit

Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Arslan D.

I think its called a cold boot. I had a asus p5k-e before and had the same thing. There is nothing to change it from happening. Its been awhile since I looked into it but I think it was mostly asus boards that do it.

There is probably a change being made to the bios and then a reset to make effective. It may not have liked one of your settings.

Guys thanks for quick inputs. See this set up isnt really brand new, i had this running before about 6 months ago no issues at 4.8 OC so this time i put in two new drives and updated BIOS if it is the BIOS i am not sure what part of it is causing this. I overclocked it this time like before ran prime95 for 13hrs no issues.

Clear bios and run at default and see if problem goes away.

"SOLVED" I think for now.

Things done:

- Optimized Defaults, nothing
- Removed MOBO battery for 1 minute, nothing
- Went to ASUS site and redownloaded the latest BIOS, updated, seems to be working, no more power up then down then up.

Will keep posted,

Now gotta figure out how to OverClock it without issues.

Thank you all for your inputs and help on this matter.
