Best Path for Upgrade (q6600 yo)?

Thread Starter
Budget --- $400ish.

My rig listed below post.

I think my q6600 (back to stock clocks since I was having some issues at 3.0GHz after 4 years) is starting to show its age frown.gif

I wonder if I can squeeze more out of the GTX 560 ti instead of having to upgrade that as well.

I am looking to play new games+future games at @ 1080p at high quality levels.

I only use one monitor for gaming (23" @ 1080p).

I was thinking mobo+cpu+ram?

My second idea (thanks goes to replies):

Intel Core i5-3570K Ivy Bridge 3.4GHz

GIGABYTE GA-Z77X-UD3H LGA 1155 Intel Z77

CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600

Thoughts, comments, suggestions, bans?

I'd personally get a gigabyte mobo but then again thats just me. My current 775 mobo has been holding my Q6600 at 3.4 since I got it, must be 5+ years now.

DDR3 ram is cheap enough these days with the right deal.

Can I suggest a Gigabyte Z77x-D3H instead of the Biostar? It's seriously so much better and if I remember right in a similar price range.

Also I would avoid Ballistix's... every stick I've ever owned burned out on me...of course that was back in the Micron D9 days...so who knows anymore about them.

nice build smile.gif you will get noticeable increase. smile.gif

your 560 Ti will still give enough performance, at least for this year. so you can save up and get newer graphics card later...

Replacing a q6600 with a 3570 is like replacing an old Camaro with a new Ferrari... yo.

nice combo, great mobo for overclocking on a budget with excellent VRM setup. next step i would look at an SSD sometime down the track and a GPU upgrade in the future (maybe a year). over all cpu/mobo is a good combination, RAM is quality and 1600 is fine. thumb.gif
