I'm curious how this stacks up against my overclocked 670 SLI...only because I remember waiting in June for the 7990 announcement before I bought my Keplers (wow 8 months ago)

For those with Powercolor 7970X2....does it use 7970 CFX driver or does it have its own? If so is it possible to flash to GHz Ed first then OC to give a higher OC? I'm sure most of you guys with this thing has it under water.

edit: also...voltage unlocked right...?

Yet still only 1 DL-DVI port. *fail*

EDIT: to clarify, why add a second port if you're going to gimp it.

are you talking about the 7970x2 or 7990? Use the 7970 drivers. It is possible , but i had to work with mine to get it to work. Mine runs cool enough for me not to want a block right now. And My voltage is unlocked .. If any of that helped.

Imagine if SLI or CF supported more than four GPUs, and they actually scale above 3x GPUs...

Quad 7990s or 690s...

HWI tends to do nice tests but come up with odd conclusions. I mean he eventually compares it with the ARES. I mean that is a watercooled card. That is stupid. Slap on the EK block and compare then. And sadly every card and gpu is different. One card goes to 1300 and another stops at 1100.

HWI make's great test and the most stupid tests ever.
Like there SSD test's are huge and rather good but there CPU cooler testst are horrible.

When you look at how they explain you how to build a PC is just to be laughed at lol.

When you buy 2 Radeon HD 7970 GHz Editions you are: 1) almost € 200 cheaper off, 2) gives you, without overclocking, improved performance due to the higher clock speeds, 3) it has more own overclocking headroom and 4) will output less noise. No mater how you look at it: two separate 7970 GHz Editions is in all cases a more sensible choice than a 7990."

My overclocking is fine. like i said i was having issues with ulps, and now thats resolved . so i am able to run 1200/1580 with temps never breaking 56-58c while gaming. and the noise level is on par with my two vortex II's. as for the ghz performance, i was able to flash the 2nd bios on both gpus to the ghz bios. and will run some benchies with that bios to check it out tonight.

1200/1580? It's a small clock right? Since i'm running 1050/1500 on my 7950, and that's like.. Nothing if i compare what it can do.

Agreed.

But they need to make the conclusion fit the test. If they wanted to add the ARES they should have added it to the test.

To many things wrong and right with HWI.

The most anoying thing about HWI is that people with less knowledge Always listen to what HWI has to says first and everyone else is wrong in there eyes.
I constantly get people in my email saying i sell bad configurated PC's because of HWI.
I put up like a overclocked 3570K with 2x 7970 for sale with a quality 900 or 950W PSU.
They then tell me if i expect some fireworks coming from the PC, HWI showed them 950W is not enough because a 7970 has a TPD of 300W and the 3570K draws over 240W !
Thats allready 840W without drive's, fans, motherboard and such !
They then rather then buy a PC with a crappy 60,- euro 1200W instead of mine with a 950W Corsair, Bequiet, Seasonic, Antec or Enermax PSU

Really gets on my tits some time's lol
