I won't argue the point with you, you apparently don't give much credence to the governments ability to shut any corporation entirely out of their market.

and they will leave with an apology or at least admission that matters are not "clear" from the politicians

I'd love to know how charging $30 for a $15-$20 HD movie works, when there's no additional costs for them like packaging, etc.
I admittedly have not read the entire thread and only skimmed the first 30 posts or so, but has anyone mentioned or asked that perhaps the shipping/transportation of getting product to Australia is more costly than the large shipments dropped in the US/EU as those economies are dominantly larger?

I'm only throwing it out there because I can't really see any other avenue of response for that kind of inquiry from the Australian Parliament.

This isn't just physical products, this is digital download products too. Here's two screen grabs of Adobe CS6 Master Collection, first is on Adobe's Australian web store, second is on the US one. Coming from the exact same server, yet nearly double the price:

The price of fuel is the same everywhere (if you don't include tax), China to Australia (4600 miles), from China to the US (7000 miles). The huge price difference has nothing to do with Australia being further away (which requires more to ship to) because it isn't.

While that is true, the route does have a LOT more to do with it. Australia is a much smaller market than the US is. Essentially everyone brings their stuff to the US (or china these days) to sell it. There are many more ships going to the US, many more cargo planes... everything. While the cost is the same, you also do need to justify the huge load you can bring to the states, to a potentially less than full load you can bring to Australia.

Good luck australia. Maby you'll come up with a solution and your govt won't cave like pussies and other govts will follow suit. Tired of being reamed by foreign corporations. Foreign corps don't owe us anything, but on the flip side we don't owe them anything either. Legally or morally. The only reason we pay more is because of government buy-in that serves foreign interests more then citizens.

I think it's a bit different since the companies are bound by the law whereas the drug trade clearly isn't.
