The A700 is still probably your best bet at 150 or under. A700x is usually a few bucks more - they're more different than better, but seriously minor difference - so your call there. The ATH-A series is quite literally the most comfortable full size series that exists AFAIK. The entire series also has a HUGE soundstage (even the closed ones), and the closed ones do have bass (not overblown like a lot of currently trending cans, but IMO that's a good thing. The real downside is they are bulky (yet lightweight and comfortable - counter-intuitive, but its true) and are NOT designed to take a beating. Aside from the pleather rubbing off of the earpads (these are replaceable) after 2 years or so, they'll hold up just fine if treated well.

Now, I do believe I mentioned AKG. Their K701/702 is quite nice, although totally out of your price range. I haven't personally used their cheaper offerings, but I've heard good things (pun intended) about the k271 mk2. They are the closest things in terms of comfort to the Audio Technica Art series. Very nice audio for music, almost as good for gaming, a bit cheaper, and more durable.

There is a seller on ebay that is selling the 770 pro's $150 + $10 shipping. which is about the same as the Audio Technica ATH-A700X, Now if only I knew which one had better build quality..

As for build quality, that's kind of an interesting point. The 770 is probably more conventionally sturdy, though the a700x may have finer craftsmanship.

If you wanted to keep in budget, I would highly recommend the Samson Go Mic + Samson SR850's. The microphone is pretty good sounding to me, here is a video of someone using the mic for a review.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=InhS6xOoPwc

The headphones have a pretty have a pretty large soundstage and have a lot more bass than the AD700's. Here's a pretty good thread with reviews and discussions about them.

http://www.head-fi.org/t/546544/samson-sr850-superlux-oem-review-a-50-budget-champion

Total, this combo would be about ~100ish with shipping/taxes.

Hope this helps!

Normal A700's? You mean the AD700's? I didn't go with them because they are open back, I'd hate for everyone around me to hear what my outfit talks about when I game.. tongue.gif

Last question, will I need to get a amp to run the DT 770 Pro 80?

By normal A700, he just means A700 as opposed to A700x. The x just denotes that it is the second generation design.

At any rate, those cans are 80 ohms. If you need an amp depends on how much current your soundcard can supply. I don't actually know anything about your particular soundcard so I'm not the best person to ask. That said, as a general rule, if your card is advertised as having a dedicated amped headphone jack, it'll be fine. If not... well 80 isn't that high, so it'll work, but it will sound a bit weak without an amp.

Thanks Zero, I searched for the A700's but couldn't find it on Amazon.. Probably should of searched google.

From what I've gathered if the Volume is too low I will need an amp.

That's it I think. Thank you guys!

Pretty bad luck. Yesterday the cheapest new a700 was 150, and the a700x was just $10 more.

Now the only 700 i can find is this one which is used http://www.amazon.com/Technica-ATH-A900-Audiophile-Closed-Back-Headphones/dp/B0006VT1TY/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&qid=1361039443&sr=8-11&keywords=ath-a700

The a700x is now 160 with 14 more in shipping, which makes it the smarter choice compared to the a700, but still more expensive than it was.

At any rate, I think you will enjoy the Beyerdynamic if you can get a hold of an amp. Without one (assuming your coundcard doesn't have a built in amp) it'll sound a bit weak and I'd personally suggest the a700 instead if you can find one that isn't too expensive, although that might be a pipe dream.

The a700x has twice the impedance of it's older brother, which is still lower than the Beyerdynamic but might still be slightly weak without an amp.

The AKG K 271 MK II is your cheapest option and although I haven't heard it myself, it will probably be the best sounding without an amp (aside from the original a700) due to it's lower impedance. They're also pretty comfortable and sturdy and have some nifty features so they get a recommendation for me as well.

If you've already purchased the 770 Pro 80, and you soundcard is un-amped, I'd suggest giving them a good listen and see if you like them as is. If not, you can opt for an amp, or try to sell them to cover the cost of one the lower impedance options.
